Happy Birthday to me

Jan 15, 2008 09:23

So I had a fun birthday. Dad took me out to breakfast after work. We wanted to go to this place called Tinos but it turned out they only served breakfast on the weekends. So after cashing my paycheck and my gst check we decided to try White Spot. Out of all the breakfast places we've been, while I enjoy Radar's, I think White Spot has the best bacon! It was very yummy.

When I got home I thought maybe I'd just bum around my place but that seemed kinda anticlimatic I decided I wanted to do something. After having a shower I chatted with my friend James. He was stuck at home for the last few weeks with the flu so he too wanted to do something. He picked me up and we went on a shopping trip. First we swung by a friends and I picked up my birthday bc greenery. This is also my last hurrah greenery cause once I finish it I'm gonna take a month or two off. I can do moderation- I just have to do moderation in extremes heh

After that we went to the BC smoke shop. I spent probably a good half an hour hemming and hawing over what to get. I was tempted by a glass bong but all I could see in my mind is it falling off a table and smashing into a billion peices. So I decided to get a glass pipe. That was tricky too. There were some I liked but the prices made me wince. While some were just..gaudy. I dunno what it is but the people who make glass pipes seem to be stuck in the 60s/70s and are obsessed with making them look psychadelic. Which I tend to just find ugly. But I managed to find a nice pretty one that was a nice price.

After that we went back to my place and watched Star Trek until I started passing out on James so he headed off to get some Wendys and I went to bed.

I was briefly woken by an AWESOME phone call from Emily and Jenn. It took me a minute to realise who they were, not because I didn't recognize the voices but because I was half awake hee hee.

I've also finally decided what I'm gonna spend the $150 I got from my uncle at Christmas time. I had been considering this digital clipboard thing but after reading the reveiws it didn't seem as amazing as I once thought. So I figure I'll wait a year and see what the technology has to offer. For now though I decided I'm gonna use the money for two things 1) this cool cat carrier that can be either a backpack or you can pull it along on wheels like a suitcase which will make taking Logan on our therapy sessions and 2)joining a sci fi book club

Now #2 might freak my parents out but I've read the fine print and its a reasonable deal plus it will allow me to get all the Jim Butcher books (which I want badly) in these special editions for no cost whatsoever. Plus it'll be easy to meet the required buying cirtieria because I can get Christmas presents for my family. Huzzah having sci fi friends and family.

Whatevers left I'll put onto my Visa. Admittedly my Visa bill is high again this month because of some left over Christmas expenses, Logan's flea meds (SO BLOODY EXPENSIVE) and the fact I had to take a cab to work. But I'm doing okay with my money so the only negative is that I may have to wait till next month to be able to put away some cash into ING

Tuesday I plan to do a small amount of cleaning- take out the garbage and attempt to find my scrapbook sticky things that have dissappeared. Then I hope to get my ass in gear and work on some letters I owe- Fiona, Grandma and now Emily cause I just got her letter in the mail, plus a thankyou card for Uncle Doug since I now know what I can thank him for. Then I'll nap a bit before I have to come back to work for the staff meeting.

I have a sinking feeling the staff meeting is gonna be a looooong one. I'll have to bring my knitting or something.

Wednesday I got for my orienteering at Aberdeen so Logan and I can start our weekly visits then its major major cleaning fun at ye old aparment followed by dinner at my parents. They are ordering my favourite pizza so I'm excited.

Thursday is gonna be interesting. First there's the dentist- which I know is gonna end badly. I probably have a billion cavaities. Atleast I know they won't do anything this visit, just book more. Then its cleaning until my party thing. I really dunno who's gonna show so it may just be me and the cats eating an entire cake...which really isn't all that bad. But I hope atleast one person I invited from work comes.

Oh I also have to remember to take down my outdoor lights on Tuesday. I also need to pack up my holiday stuff. I'm considering leaving the lights up in my living room though, I like the look of them. Maybe I'll get some white or blue colored lights and switch them so I can leave them up all year long. I dunno. I'll play it by ear. I also have a few art pieces I want to put up on the wall that I found while showing my art off to Rain and Aaron

Anyway that's my big birthday update. I guess I should end this entry with my goals for my 28th year. Big suprise they are similar to the ones I say every year, but here goes:

* To try and actually get my learners permit
* To try and get out more- which I have started already by joining a D&D campain, granted I'm 10 years older then most of the players but out is out!
* To try and read more
* To continue getting invovled in the community via Pet Therapy and the LDA
* To continue to better myself psychologically
* To be a better penpal to my friends
* To eat healthier and get more active

friends, family, birthday, christmas
