"Welcome to (my work), Kelly speaking"
"Hello my name is Khan,"
I wait for him to continue
"Hello?!"
"...Hi?"
what was I supposed to say? 'HI Khan! How may I help you today Khan! Are you looking to buy a million dollar property today Khan?'
"I'm looking for the rental..?"
sigh.. I tell him he needs to call the rental department
"what is the number ma'am?"
wha??! I tell him the number
"thank you ma'am"

Ma'am? Noooooo I'm too young for that! I HATE being called ma'am. I'm sure I'll hate it when I'm 50 and it becomes appropriate too - no one needs to be reminded that they're now old enough to be a ma'am!

That and what is it with foreign people saying "HELLO?!!!" on the phone to me? At my last real estate job I wasn't even finished saying who I was or who the company was before I heard "HELLO?!" - I mean.. I'm right here - I'm TELLING you I'm here. Fuck....
Or I just told them what company this is and the first thing they say is "is this (name here)?" - and half of those people don't even have the right place! "welcome to (work), Kelly speaking" "Is this Pottery Barn???" um.. NO. NO IT ISN'T! We don't even have pottery barn - go away!
