“Let it All Out” is a song by Relient K in their newest album, mmhmm. I chose this ballad because no matter how I act outside, I try to keep the painful emotions within myself. The tune carries out a slow and constant pace with a very calming piano background. Also very slow paced drumming adds rock flavor to the song. The melody matches the lyrics very well; it has a slow progression and is comforting. My senior year has been very eventful, yet more of a hurtful experience than an enjoyable one. Still, I believed in the end I would overcome whatever was in front of my path no matter how painful and impossible it seemed. So I did, even when I wanted to quit and take an easy way out. This song was very inspirational to me and reminded me that I must continue moving forward.
The entire song is very moving, but one particular part that moves me is “If the burden seems too much to bear: Remember, the end will justify the pain it took to get us there.” Life can be very painful. Sometimes everything seems so much to bear, just overwhelming. It is so easy to take a wider path than the right path, but in the end, the right path will prove to be more rewarding. It may not be now, it may not be tomorrow, or even my life time, but in the future I will be rewarded. It is already the end of my senior year and I faced a lot of hard times throughout my high school career. Because I put a lot of things behind my school work, I was able to get this far with my accomplishments. Certainly, moments that feel like hell seem displeasing but Winston Churchill said, “When you are going through hell, just keep going.” If it is a hell I see then I will get through it. It is a very admirable philosophy. A night does not last forever, and dawn is always waiting at the end.
I empathize with the song very much. Some days it just feels like how the music starts off. Pain may feel so overwhelming and kills the consistency but in the end, I have strength to fight it off. It is always great to have a song I can empathize with and that is why music speaks when words fail. Life may be overwhelming, but if I am true to myself, I have no doubt that I will have no regret in the end.
