An Appearance at the Palace

So my daughter took me out to eat tonight as part of my birthday celebration. Her bf came with and that was really nice. I get to see him way less than I see her, and *that* is saying something. Since I have been having revelations about probable food intolerances, I picked Chinese food. She wanted to go to Big Bowl in Edina, or PF Changs but I craved authentic, and it seems those places are run by white folks. She got the present which she desired, so I stood firm; Seafood Palace.

For background, I am a person who likes salads, but should never eat them in person because I am inelegant. Every time I eat a salad in public, I make this realization, and I keep ordering them. So I went to this restaurant which I know that I like, and I ordered the #2 chef suggestion: Dungeoness Crab with a ginger sauce.

This is a Chinese restaurant. It is normal for everything to be bite-sized, and to be able to eat it with chopsticks. It never occurred to me that there would be shell between the crab and the sauce. There was. There were no cracks in the shell to help me out. It took me a minute to find the shell-cracker and *tiny fork* which had been supplied under all of the napkins in the bowl. Chopstick worked better than the fork.

It was one big mess. It was a lovely sauce, which didn't really touch the food, except where there was breading on the open bits. It was good and I'll never order it again.

J also gave me a bd present. which was a face of the buddha in a shadow box. I thought that the face didn't look like it was chinese; maybe it was a Thai styled buddha or Indian. When I asked the waiter about this, he thought I didn't know who buddha was at all. Serves me right. The shadow box; made in China.
