I wore a necklace for the first time yesterday that I had made and suddenly realised that I had never showed it off on here after finally putting it all together! This is from my Precious Metal Clay class from so long ago that I can't remember when I did it. I found working with PMC very frustrating and although I have a little left and may make one last pendant with it one day, it's not something I will be repeating! However my dangly bits are pretty, even if I do say so myself! The beads are a combination of bought and reclaimed from the necklace from my best friend's wedding five years ago. I'm so pleased that they came in useful.

I also made a small Star of David in the class and although it's on a pretty piece of cord I've never been happy with it and it feels unfinished. However because it was my second piece of work, it did come out a little better than the first pieces - that is, the back is lovely and smooth!

In March I learned peyote stich beading. I was thinking of an Ancient Egypt theme even before the class and went for blue and gold - and I was lucky to be able to get those colours as I was last to claim my beads - again! We were doing freeform peyote, which is adding in all sorts of other size beads but I had got the hang of the striping in my work so I only added a few large beads in in the right colours. We were meant to be making bracelets, but I work quite slowly and just as I was getting bored Antoinette (yes, that is my jewellery teacher's name!) mentioned that she had hair clips too so I gladly tied off and evened up the other end - the joy of peyote is that you can add on where you want to to even things up, so I was able to tidy up my edges and gaps too. I eventually finished it at home and thought I'd display it with the other bits!

I'm thinking of starting something else as I'm getting itchy beading fingers. Any suggestions or requests?!

i made this!
