[MARY] Icon Tutorial #11 | Yuki Cross - Vampire Knight

Aug 12, 2008 15:09

Icon tutorial requested by prinsesa9. She wanted to know how I got this but since I don't save .psds I had to experiment and see how I achieved that coloring xD Pretty lame, huh? Even I don't know my own coloring :x

So we're going from
to
.
Yeah we're using the same image.

Some things...
► I'd say this tutorial is really easy. All you really need to know is the basics & selective coloring/channel mixer, which isn't that hard.
► I don't think it's translatable seeing as it contains Selective Coloring & Channel Mixer ):
► I used Adobe Photoshop CS2
► I suggest using this tutorial for dark screencaps.
► Branch out & see if you could experiment with this :)
► Provided PSD file for your convenience. Yes, we are all lazy :x
► Hope it helps you somehow!

Step 1: Crop your base 100 x 100 pixels!

Notice that I cropped it so close to her face... it adds, I don't know, enhancement. lol.

Step 2: Duplicate it two times, set both to Screen 100% Opacity

Step 3: Duplicate the base again, drag to the top and set that layer to Overlay 100% Opacity. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and put the amount of blur you like, I put 2.1 pixels. This way it gives it a glowy effect. Make a new layer, fill it in with #fce7c2, set that layer to Multiply 100%.

Step 4: Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation. For Saturation: +30. Then go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Channel Mixer I placed these settings:

RED: +150, -60, 0
GREEN: 0, +100, 0
BLUE: -70, +70, +140

Step 5: Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Color and place these settings:

REDS: -100, 0, +100, 0
YELLOWS: +100, +16, -26, 0
WHITES: +100, -28, +91, +29
NEUTRALS: +14, -4, +7, 0

Step 6: Again, go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Color and place these settings:

REDS: -71, -28, -44, +46
YELLOWS: -63, +52, +25, +11
GREENS: +41, +59, -65, +20
CYANS: +59, -62, -68, +30
BLUES: +54, +44, -64, -34

Step 7: Duplicate the base and set it to the very top, set that layer to Soft Light 100% Opacity. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with the same 2.1 pixels setting & you're done!
