[Women Lovefest] Why I Love Ashe

So.  For the womenlovefest, or We Love the Women that Fandom Hates, I decided to do Princess Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca, from Final Fantasy XII.  That's her in my icon.  For a lot of reasons, but mostly that she's my favorite female character from the Final Fantasy series, and I love a lot of the female characters in the Final Fantasy series, so that's saying

And it's really true. The costumes in this game are SO ODD. I think the crowning weirdness is Rasler's armor with a gigantic hole in the middle of the chest--a hole through which he gets shot with an arrow. I mean, I could have seen that coming; why would you wear armor like that? It just . . . baffles me.

It's been a long time since I've been around FFXII, but I loved Ashe when I was, and you hit a lot of good points.

It's been a while for me, too (I did some recapping online just to make sure I remembered what I was talking about the way it really was), but yes, Ashe is great, and she really worked her way into my heart over the course of the game. And thank you! I tried to lay out my opinions/feelings on her as clearly as I could. She hits a lot of my favorite character buttons--I really have a thing for responsible, moral heroes with emotional control--and she's also a strong, dynamic woman I have a massive girl-crush on, so in my book, she's seriously awesome.

This is a fantastic post and you've really pinpointed why Ashe is so amazing. While I was really upset to hear that (some of) fandom hates her (upset but unsurprised, since she's a woman and this is fandom), I'm really glad to see someone who truly loves her eloquently explain why she's so wonderful. :)

Also I let out a very unattractive bark of laughter with that transition to Vaan's... outfit.

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and that you felt like I hit the main points. I could have gone on forever and ever about her, but I wanted to keep it relatively concise. And well, she's not the most hated female character I've ever run across, but I've definitely seen hate out there, because, yes, a woman, and fandom, and there you have it :/. I really love her a lot, so I'm just so glad you felt I was eloquent, and did a good job!

Ahahaha, I'm glad I could make you laugh. I was hoping people would find that at least a little funny. I like Vaan, really, but the comment above that describes him as a cabana boy is hilariously accurate. I will never understand the thought process that leads to wearing a gigantic zipper in place of a shirt.
