Last night I fell asleep to Bartók and owls outside my window, but this morning I wake up with
pictures!
Last Thursday night I flew to Atlanta to spend the weekend and a few days with _мal and Mя_мal, where we also spent the time celebrating a certain rockstar's birthday!
On Friday, we went to the symphony to see Verdi's Requiem performed in remembrance of Coretta Scott King. Drinking poppy tea beforehand was an excellent choice, as it was very nice to be in such a..... I dunno, humble? state while we watched.
Saturday night we went out to see The Sisters of Mercy, which was an amazing show-- despite the complaints and bitchings of many of the people who attended XD-- because, well, you can see above! It's just really awesome to see a silhouette once every few minutes, sometimes just standing there with their arms crossed over their chest. XDDDD
Sundayyyyyyy~, was the day for the FIREWORKS RALLY and ghetto craps! You see, at the dinner table, everyone got to roll two of the dice (a large firework itself :x not pictured above, but below, WASTED) and then got to pick out of the bag which explosive propelled car they got to be in the race. The trophy was ROBOT ATTACK. ... _мal also had another exciting firework-- Frog Jihad (which was a frog with a Mad Dog rocket taped to his back. XD)-- but since the man came and shut us down early, it never got the chance to blow. ;o;
Dinner was held at Nakato, where
viannin,
slumberjack,
astounded, Seth, Alex joined _мal, Mя_мal, and I. A picture of Atsushi was placed at the end of the table, and everyone respectfully donated a bit of food to share with the birthday boy. Also, there were sakura flower cut carrots. So cute, even if carrots are the tool of the devil~
As mentioned above, vehicles were assigned before we got back to the apartment, so after getting some drinks, we could head out and LIGHT OUR ENGINES.
Sunflowers and four Cherry Blossom fountains for the birthday boy. XD
The sidewalk across the road is where the race was held-- you can see the start, MEGA-FINISH, and the cars all lined up.
You can see the first picture is the best of ALL OF THESE, as
slumberjack's turtle shoots FIRE OUT OF IT'S ASS and zooms off. XD
viannin got Dragon Boat, Alex got Police Car (which sadly needed to be hot wired to get it to go! But it won the race in the STYLE category),
slumberjack got the Turtle,
astounded had the Race Car (which won the race re: distance), Seth had Monkey Drive, Mя_мal had the crab, _мal had the motorcycle guy, and I had Kentucky Derby (who was disqualified for IMMEDIATELY taking a hard left and shooting into the grass!)
The style points awarded to Police Car were because it left ash stains from it's headlights on the ground. Hahaha.
The winners-- Alex and Jason-- got to each light a craps dice and toss them to see who got the trophy: ROBOT ATTACK! The dice spun wildly on the ground, and got quite burned up from the experience, as you can see; they were left smoking for a while. XD
Then it was time for the Cherry Blossom fountains, and when they were done it was Frog Jihad's moment to shine...... but NO! THE MAN came to shut us down. 8( So boo.
Monday was the long awaited Fava Bean Cookoff: Saudi Arabia v. Palestine! .... Saudi won. :X And after that, the three of us- Mal, the Mr. and I- got dressed and headed over to The Fabulous Fox theatre to see La Bayadere, danced by hot russians. The theatre is really beautiful inside, styled like Morocco.
Tuesday was project Magic Garden, which supposedly starts to bud after only three hours and is complete in ten. :| We should have known that the experience would not be very magical, when we couldn't get Mt. Fuji to stay in it's place, and the grass kept jumping out of it's slots, but we tried to keep optimistic and let it sit for a bit while we went out in search of Hollywood. ... Poor Lapsang (the dog), started shaking when we got to the cemetery; she must have been able to smell the zombie in the air. XD
After a good drive through the ghetto, we came back home so Mal could cook us another tasty dinner of salmon, veggies and forbidden rice with a mixed glass of Sakura liqueur and sake, which we all enjoyed while watching Bonnie and Clyde.
I got home yesterday, and Mike picked me up, we ate, then a little later went to Park Ave. CDs and I got a cheap, used (but in good condition!) Béla Bartók disc. ♡
All in all, a wonderful week. :) .... But Emily is leaving soon, and it's depressing. :/
