:\ Not The Way To Be Social

A while ago (I think maybe in December) I was getting into twitter and thought that it'd be fantastic to be able to see all of my jpop new release news right in my twitter stream. So I up and created the @CDJapan twitter feed using one of those rss to twitter services. In the bio of this twitter account that I created, I said that they could just email me and ask me for the password and whatnot and I'd gladly give it to them.

For all intents and purposes, all I did was create a quick little newsfeed so that me and anyone else who loves jpop and happens to be on twitter could get new release information quickly, without having to wait for the dinky new release emails.

Fast forward to about April. CDJapan officially announces social media stuff with facebook and twitter. The link to their twitter account? @CDJapan_.

I said then that they could have the account I created. All they had to do was ask.

Now, the other day I said something again.

They went to twitter.com and had the admins at twitter just give them the account. I'm not bothered by that. I said in the beginning that they could have it. I'm more bent out of shape because they didn't ask me, or do anything to say "hey, cool! a customer has done something that we should take advantage of! let's ask them for the password!" There's a way to handle customers, particularly the jpop fanbase here in the United States. And CD Japan just going to the twitter admins (as they had a right to) and taking it out from under me without any sort of "oh thanks!" is just mean.

twitter, drama, cd japan
