This features some characters introduced in Deirdre Martin's first two books Body Check and Fair Game. This time Michael Dante's cousin Gemma, the black sheep of the Dante family gets the spotlight. Gemma isn't like the majority of her boisterous Italian family. She's a New Age chick, a vegetarian, and she burns strong incense that drive her neighbors crazy. One of those neighbors is firefighter Sean Kennealy. Although he thinks she's a bit odd, he can't help but be attracted to her. It doesn't take long for the two to start a hot romance but their differences might be too much to ignore.
