Title:
Tragically I Was an Only Twin: The Complete Peter CookEditor: William Cook
My Grade: B
This book compiles writings and performance pieces by one of England's most funniest men, Peter Cook. Although never quite as famous as his frequent comedy partner, Dudley Moore... Cook managed to influence a slew of comedians nevertheless. Oddly enough, his and Moore's "Derek and Clive" stuff really did nothing for me and the stuff featuring one of his most popular characters, Sir Arthur Streeb-Greebling could get a bit tedious at times, a little goes a long way when it comes to that character. My favorite work in this book was probably the newspaper column Cook wrote for the Daily Mail and his writings about sports (especially, football / soccer, haha). Cook was a master satirist and it's amazing how timeless his stuff is. He will always be hilarious.
