Title: Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings
Author: Christopher Moore
Final Thought: Silly & Surreal

After the intensity of the last book I read, I needed something silly. I knew I could count on Christopher Moore for that.

When biologist Nate Quinn sees the words "Bite Me" on the tail of a humpback whale, he thinks he's lost it. Especially when the one photographic evidence he has is mysteriously missing. If that's not strange enough, years of research are stolen, his research partner's boat is sunk, and he manages to get eaten by a whale. Life officially sucks for Nate! A woman Nate and his partner Clay Demodocus affectionately refer to as the "Old Broad", claims the whale that ate Nate called her on the telephone and requested a pastrami sandwich on rye. She convinces him that Nate still lives and urges Clay to go find him. And damnit, that's exactly what he's going to do... even if that means looking up every whales butt in the Pacific Ocean.
