what to be thankful for?
i'm not exactly sure there is much to be thankful for this holiday, or any holiday really. the country is fighting a war against those who move in shadows, we're not allowed to bring a bottle of coca-cola onto a plane for fear we shall blow it to high holy hell by way of caffine overload, our president is an idiot, the world hates the US, our armed forces are being spread thin, and i could go on for quite a while.
that all of course, is very worldly and universal to many americans. i personally have little to be thankful.
family
my grandmother seems to eternally have a bug lodged somwhere in her large intestines, my nana is in a nursing facility 250 miles away and its questionable if she would even remember who i am. to be forgotten by your own family, now that's a wonderful feeling. both of my cousins are in the navy, one may be shipped to the med, so that's not as bad at iraq, but its not safe at home here.
state stupidity
house insurence went up. taxes went up. you know what our insurer said? most people who do not have mortages are dropping their house insurence; they can't afford it. come next year, we won't be able to afford it. like an article in the Herald read, home owners are praying, "lord, if you want to take my house, please spare me." its the state of florida that approves or disapproves rate hikes, but when insurence almost doubles in one year, some fat good ol' boy in tally is getting his pocket good and greased.
money/black friday
my direct deposit has not gone through yet. i have my paycheck. its dated for tomorrow. i refuse to go into a bank on a friday. especially black friday. ten million stupid greed influenced american sheep, i mean consumers, are going to be emptying their bank accounts to go add to the coffers of corporate/retail america. and i work in retail. i have a 11 hour shift at aventura mall, also know as dante's 8th layer of shopping hell. please, folks, for your sanity, sleep in. pay the extra 50 bucks and keep from being trampled/punched/slapped/robbed/molested while in line at 4:30 AM at circuit city to get your $400 laptops. is a five dollar barbie really worth it, when the doll is usually 10 bucks? come on people. but i know the mall will be packed. enzo angelini (a nine west sister store) made either 32 or 38 grand last year on black friday. yes my friends that's thousand. and EA was a tiny store when it closed at aventura. NW is bigger. we're bad ass. we have boots on sale. furry boots. you know, because it snows in florida (which it may have in orlando yesterday, so the rumor goes)
life in general
there is a general sadness lingering over me right now. its not depression, which is a good thing, but its still there. i don't know why... well... maybe i do, and i don't feel like going into it here.
