Summary: A new town meant new things. A new house, friends, clothes and even maybe a new leaf to turn. Taemin silently stared outside his window as his parents drove the car he was in. The sign ‘Welcome To,’ passed him as he sighed. Apparently the name of the destination was covered in graffiti but Taemin could care less of where he was moving to. He didn’t seem to care. Until he met someone he meet before in a different time, age and maybe even a dream.
A/N: So.. Like.. Hi :D I haven't been writing much. Now I'm starting on tons of one-shots, two series' (which do not include this one) and a story for my friend cause she keeps nagging me over and over again to actually start it =3=
Taemin stared outside, letting the steam from his cup of coffee stain the glass window as he blew the liquid. It’s been a few days since he encountered the house. The dreams weren’t coming back either. He didn’t know why, but deep down, he wanted to see that man, Minho, and Genevieve. He felt like he knew the two a long time ago, but forgotten in the vast sea of dreams. The sounds of thunder crackling through the sky made him shiver in fright as he stepped away from the window and towards the warm comfort of the fireplace.
He sat down on the warm chair and huddle his legs near his chest. The scent of coffee and wet socks filled the room as his family came back home. The sounds of chatting and laughing echoing in his head before falling asleep, letting the already cold cup of coffee spill onto the wet floor.
~~!~~
It was dark again. His fingers traced the wall as the scent of cinnamon and bacon filled the air. It excited him. Was he back in the dream? Would he be able to see Minho again? Who knows.
He pushed open the door to see a brightly lit kitchen with Genevieve cooking over the stove. He smiled. ‘Annyeong Taemin. Good to see you again,’ she greeted him as she flipped the few strips of bacon from the hot sizzling pan onto the plate nearby.
‘Care for a piece?’
He nodded.
The food tasted delicious. Even more delicious than his mothers cooking apparently, and her cooking is darn good if I say so myself. It wasn’t long till Minho arrived with another person or something. It looked like a human but with the features of a cat. Ears, tails and everything.
‘Is that some sort of cosplay costume or something?’ he asked, pointing to the animal.. Person... Thing..
‘No-,’ the thing started but was elbowed by a walking Genevieve, but thank goodness Taemin was unaware of it. It scowled. ‘Y-Yeah. It’s a cosplay,’ it said, glaring at a smiling Genevieve.
‘I heard there’s a circus down town,’ she smiled at the three as she placed a plate of eggs and bacon in the middle of the table. Taemin licked his lips as he stared at the food. God, it looked delicious. ‘Minho, mind bringing Taemin there after you guys eat?’ she asked, washing the already empty plates in the sink.
~~!~~
The walk to the circus was long. The sky was dark and a mix of an eerie orange and black. If you listened long enough, you could hear the faint sounds of bells ringing and the laughter of children. The trees surrounding us had no leaves whatsoever and the branches were bare with nothing except its bark still attached to it.
It wasn’t long until they reached a more dense area, small lanterns attached to the end of the branches around them, the sight of an unmoving ferris wheel in the distance among the trees and dim lantern lights. The sound of feet crunching soil under them.
‘I’ve never been to a circus,’ Taemin whispered.
‘Really?’ Minho replied, a little sting in his voice.
‘Yeah. Well.... Maybe I have. But I forgot.. Oh Look! A tent!’ Taemin exclaimed, running towards the huge tent, grabbing Minho’s wrist and dragging him towards it.
Minho kept quiet. Afraid that he might remember again. Remember the times when they were just magical.
~~!~~
‘Welcome, welcome! Please come in Minho-sshi. You and your friend are most welcomed,’ a shrill voiced lady said to them, pointing into the direction of the circus tent. The two slowly walked towards it and entered, curiosity seeping into their hearts.
Inside were brightly coloured seats and an empty stage in the middle. Hundreds, probably thousands of people were chatting in their seats, waiting for the show to start. Taemin didn’t know why, but he had a bad feeling about this place. It was a bit.. How do you say? Off?
Taemin looked left and right, not noticing two empty seats right in the front row. Surrounded by a bright red box with gold carvings engraving it.
‘Hear you are Minho-sshi and Minho’s friend. The best seats for today,’ one of the workers smiled, opening the box open to let the two sit down.
‘Thank you,’ Taemin whispered as he glanced at Minho who has bored as the next person. ‘Isn’t this cool hyung,’ he tried, making the situation less awkward. Minho shrugged his shoulders again. ‘I guess so,’ he mumbled into the crowd, loud enough for Taemin to hear.
Suddenly, the lights dimmed, a familiar voice echoed in the huge tent.
‘Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I present to you, Circus Le Fantastico*!’ the voice boomed. The spotlights swinging around and finally landing in the centre, showcasing a woman, the ringleader. Her costume fitting perfectly well with her figure as she flipped her hair a bit.
Silence.
She clapped her hands together once. Then twice. Then thrice. A cane popped into her right hand.
‘Welcome to the Circus Le Fantastico. Today, we’re going to showcase something unusual, something you never seen before and maybe,’ she paused staring right at Taemin. Giving him a sly smirk before tapping the base of the cane againts the floor. ‘
‘Something magical,’
Goosebumps started forming on Taemin’s arm. His stomach twisting and turning. It’s as if he’s been here before. But, it can’t be possible.. Can it?
‘Hyung! Look! A circus! Can we go?’ Taemin asked, excitedly running hand in hand with his hyung.
‘Aniyo. We need to get back to-,’
‘Come on hyung! Just this once,’ the young boy pouted, tugging on his hyung’s sleeve. The older boy smiled at Taemin, ruffling his hair a bit, making the younger boy giggle. ‘Okay,’ he smiled.
‘Yay!’ he cried out loud, running towards the circus, pulling along his hyung with him.
~~!~~
‘Look, look! What’s that hyung?’ Taemin asked, pointing at the lions in the cage. ‘Are they cats?’
‘Aniyo. They’re lions-,’
‘Oh look! It’s a tent!’ the younger interrupted, tugging his hyung into another huge tent, revealing a stage in the middle with a lady on it, her strikingly orange hair sticking out from the props around her. The boys took a seat right in front, giggling, as if it was there just for them.
‘Welcome ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, children of all ages. Welcome to Circus Le Fantastico. The greatest circus in all of the world,’ the lady in the middle smiled, clapping her hands twice before two assistants with pink tights appeared next to her, earning a round of applause and gasps from the crowd around them.
A/N: I was supposed to make it longer but..... :33 ... I got lazy. And the story was kinda making a crack in my wall.
