Sunday Afternoon

She had actually had most of her things completely packed up, aside from what she would need until leaving. Perched on the edge of her bed, she frowned at the empty feel of the room. She glanced at the computer ( which I totally didn't know she had until just now, kthx. >>; )and frowned. Something told her to check her email. So, she did ( Read more... )

Edward was passing in the hall, a box full of random crap that he was going to dispose of in his arms when he heard the squee. He stopped, frowned at Sakura's door and made an attempt to knock on it which was pretty much just thunking his head against the door. "You okay in there?"

Edward? At this point, I think I feel sorry for you.

Pausing in her moment of squee, Sakura stared at the door when Edward knocked on it with his head, and made a little flailing motion with her arms. In the midst of him thunking his head on the door, she flung it open and nearly pounced on him.

"DadandTouyaarelettingmestayforthesummer!"

Edward, despite living in his state of denial, is still quite small for his age. Already off-balance from trying to knock on the door with his forehead and not drop the awkward box'o'doom, the addition of Sakura opening the door mid-knock made him start to topple foward.

Then Sakura pounced him and the next thing Edward knew he was lying on his back, in the hallway, with Sakura on top of him.

".....uh. Hi, Sakura."

"They're letting me stay!" she cried again, taking his shoulders and shaking them, seeming to have not noticed that she knocked the poor boy to the ground and was now sitting on him.

Of course, that only lasted a minute and she finally realized that she was sitting on the ground and he was below her. With a sort of startled wail, she clambored off him and sat on her knees beside him instead, offering him a hand to help him sit up. Her other was fisted over her collarbone, and she was grinning so that it looked like her face might split in two.

"...sorry, didn't mean to tackle you..."

Owww, ground + head = pain. Edward sat up, rubbing the back of his head and making a o.O face at Sakura, waiting for the mental adding machine to stop whining about being jostled and catch up.

Oh, hey, there we go. "You're staying? That's great!" He grinned at her, and rubbed his head again.

She really had to try not to glomp him again. Instead, she wrapped her arms around her middle and nodded vigorously. "Touya sent me an email," she explained. "...I'm gonna owe him a lot of money, but he paid for me to stay for the summer." She ran one hand through her hair. "...I really do love my brother, even if he drives me insane."

She eyed Edward's collection of fallen stuff, and belatedly frowned at it. "...what's all this?"

"Erm, uh..." Edward eyed the crap scattered all over the place. "Yanno, I don't really know for sure. I found it in my closet." He toed a small clock. "Anything in this pile of crap you can use?"

Sakura eyed the heap of closet-stuff with mild interest, and picked up the clock. "...I dunno, maybe?" She set it to the side, then frowned. "...Come in for a bit, it'll be easier to sort through stuff in a room than in the hall..." Plus, that gave less opportunity for either of them to get stepped on.

Gathering an armful of stuff, she stood up and tossed her head in the direction of the door. "C'mon. I think I have something in here I was planning on giving you, anyhow... Maybe I gave it to Alphonse to hold on to, I don't remember." Ramble, ramble.

Edward nodded and shoved whatever Sakura hadn't grabbed back into the box and kicked it through the door. "Really? Something for me?" Edward made an interesting face. "Uhh...from what?" He sat down in the middle of the floor and looked around the packed-up room. "Did I miss a holiday or something?"

Sakura put her armful of stuff on the floor somewhere near where the box had slid to a stop. "No, from when I went home over Spring Break. I told you that, remember? I went home for Tomoyo's graduation." She wandered across the room and dug through a bag.

"Oh yeah, I remember you saying something about that." Edward poked through the stuff in his box while Sakura was looking. "How did that go?"

She shrugged lightly. "...Graduation-y?" She flopped backward onto her bed. "I felt kinda out of place, 'cause it was all her photography friends, and I?" She gestured to herself, and shrugged again. "Suck at photograhpy." She turned the clock over in her hands, frowning at it. "And you went back to Central," She set it down beside her. "How'd that go?"

"Well, it went I guess." Edward made a face. "The bastard had me running around all over creation after something stupid, and I ended up running into ...familiar faces. And then there was the recertification exam. What is it with people trying to blow themselves up during the recertification exam? I tell you, it's not cool."

"...blowing themselves up." She frowned. "Uh-huh..." Shaking her head, she smiled. "You certainly keep strange company." Sighing, she flopped over backward and stared at the ceiling. "...Y'know, I'm really glad I checked my email." She glared absently at the uncovered window. "...and I need to put my curtains back up." She reached over into a bag again. "...Oh, hey." She tossed a rectangular bundle at him. "Found those in my dad's library when I went home," She continued to dig through the bag. "Thought you might enjoy 'em."

"Eh?" Edward caught the bundle and stared at it for a moment, then looked up and around. "Yeah, if you're staying you should probably unpack." He looked down at the bundle. "Thanks."

"I must've given the other stuff to your brother," she explained, fumbling through the bag for another moment. Then she gave up and just upended the thing onto the floor. "...much better." She nodded at it. "...I brought back some snacks, but you weren't around and I wasn't sure when you'd be back so I gave them to him to hang on to." She pointed vaguely at him. "One of those you probably won't be able to read, most of it's in Japanese." She was referring, of course, to the books she'd unearthed from her dad's library. She'd only found two that had anything in them about alchemy, but she figured another culture's view on it might be useful to him. "I meant to translate some of it, and never got around to doing it." She sifted through the pile of stuff all over the floor, and found her curtains, folded and tied up with one of many ribbons. She tossed them up onto the bed.

"What're your plans for the evening? I haven't seen you in a while," Unless being glomped by his nine-year-old self counted.
