Yesterday,
you came up
to me
while I was organizing
my locker.
You had your
usual smile on
your face, green
eyes shining bright.
You asked me
if I wanted to
hang out
with
you
and your friends.
I agreed eagerly.
I would
never
pass up an
opportunity
to hang out with
you.
"Great, see you later,"
you say, your perfect smile
still in tact, as you walk
away.
I wore that My Chemical Romance
t-shirt you got me for my birthday.
The one that I insisted you didn't
have to get me but you knew
how badly I wanted it.
You told me to shut the fuck up
and wear it.
I also wore that skirt with lace stockings that you said
looked good on me.
My brother interrogated me
since I never wear skirts
except on Christmas
when I have to look
"presentable" for
Grandmother.
You let me get out of
that situation because
you pulled right then
in your car.
I jumped in your car
and greeted you.
"Nice shirt,"
you commented,
a smirk on your face.
A laugh escaped my lips
and I playfully slapped you.
It took forty-five minutes
just to get to your friend's house
No wonder why I don't know them.
Which left me wondering how you
knew them.
Your friend's house was a huge
Dutch colonial.
It was beautiful.
A guy ran out of the house.
He ran towards the car.
I guessed you two haven't seen
each other in a while.
"Alex!" he cried
as we exited the car.
"Jack!" you yelled
and ran towards him.
It reminded me of a cliche movie.
The ones that I really hate.
But this,
this was actually pretty
adorable.
I watched as you two
exchanged "bro-hugs"
and talk for a while,
while I stood awkwardly watching.
You introduced me to Jack
and Jack smiled widely at me,
greeting me.
"You're lucky, Alex,"
he told you.
You looked at him,
lost.
Jack rolled his eyes
and then said, "To have a
girlfriend
as
pretty
as Alicia."
My eyes widened and I blushed,
I'm sure I was as red as
an apple.
You were blushing just as hard,
trying to explain that it wasn't like that.
"Sure it isn't,"
Jack said sarcastically,
rolling his eyes once again
and led us inside.
There was at least
ten guys there
and only two girls.
"Hey Alex,"
everybody greeted you.
Again, I stood awkwardly,
watching as everybody interacted with you,
some of them acknowledging me
but for the most part,
not.
Jack offers me a seat and I
take it, quietly thanking him.
I was never good with strangers.
You were too preoccupied with a girl
whose name was Katalina
to introduce me to his friends.
I just sit and talk with Jack for a while,
getting to know him.
Jack was freaking awesome,
almost as awesome as you.
He was super sweet and likes everything I like.
It was amazing how compatible we were.
Jack told me Katalina was an old girlfriend
of yours.
I don't remember meeting her or you mentioning her.
Guess you didn't want me to know.
He said that you two were still friends.
I nodded and changed the subject
since it wasn't really my business.
When Jack offered me a drink,
you came over.
"Hey Alicia,"
you whispered in my ear.
I smile at you in response.
"Jack's a good guy,"
I say.
You nod and say,
"He's been one of my
best friends before
I could even speak."
I smile and nod.
"Did you talk to anybody else?"
you ask.
I shake my head.
"C'mon,"
you whisper,
tugging on my hand.
I sigh and get up.
You introduce me to
Rob,
who said that my eyes
were the bluest eyes he's ever seen.
I blushed and thanked him.
Then, I met Blake.
He had the coolest hair
I've ever seen.
It was dyed green, purple and red.
We talked for a really long time.
I learned that he played guitar.
I told him we should get together sometime
and play.
Eventually I met all of your friends.
I liked all of them.
Katalina was very nice to me.
I could see why you two
went out.
We hung out, listening to music and
just talking
for a couple of hours.
You said we had to leave
when the clock hit 2:00 AM.
I told you we should hang out
with them more often.
You're smile was so wide,
it took up most of your face.
You said we'll come back next
weekend.
I can't wait.
