Fanime '09 Contest Songs?
You guys know the drill~
I would very much appreciate those of you who are able to see this journal entry to lend an ear and some time to help out with this. :D
I need to decide by this Sunday. I picked a song, but I am still listening to opinions.
Please listen to all of the sound clips before selecting!
I realized that the poll closed. I've re-opened it for now.
Here are some songs I did in a run-through. I didn't do full length recordings this time. Some songs I am more familiar than with others. (Pardon the minor mistakes in these and the lower sound quality.)
Sorry that these are not amplified, yet they sort of max out sometimes..... It'll be okay! ;_;

Also, keep in mind that my prelims song is a ballad-type! (m-flo loves yoshika - Let Go)
:U This is a pretty risky song with many head voice points, lol.

From Ragnarok the Animation, it's not quite a slow song, but that sort of easygoing type. I learned this many years ago for AX05's karaoke contest for the final round, but I never made it past semifinals that year (it was my first time competing). So I've forgotten the lyrics, but I am very familiar with this song.
Ame Agari
From Angelic Layer, I learned it many years ago, but now have forgotten the lyrics. It's doubtful that I will really choose this song since it is rather slow. I'd very much prefer Soko ni Aru Mono, though this song is more difficult in a sense.. but not as sweeping, imo. This was also up for deciding last year, but it was said that this song wasn't very wow-inducing.
Beautiful World
From Utada Hikaru/Evangelion, I had sung it previously for a kind of VAA group thing, but I'm familiar enough up to the 2nd chorus at the very least. Last year this was up for deciding, too, but someone said it was an odd song to compete with. I can sort of see why.
Seikan Hikou
From Macross Frontier, I thought it was kind of catchy. I don't think I'd ever have the time to learn the dance. To be honest, this was probably only my 3rd or 4th time trying the song out (just the half I sang). Just.. imagine how it'd sound when it's more polished, lol... I know this song the least out of the batch.
*Someone I know seems to be doing this song for finals. I know she'll probably do the dance for sure.. so I am considering this a bit less now, in a way...
Soko ni Aru Mono
From Maikaze Touhou: A Summer Day's Dream, this is a fan-made animation though I have prior approval for this song from karaoke staff. He (the guy in charge of the contest) suggests that though he knows he has promised that I could sing this if I chose to, to avoid singing this because he recently ruled "No Vocaloid Songs". I definitely know half of this by heart. Here is a recorded version. Also, Vocaloid is a synthesizer instrument type of thing, not a game, anime, or J-pop. This Touhou-related song is at least for a fan anime about a game.

I may not count your vote if numbers don't match up with number of explanations, depending!
Keep in mind that the contest is judged on singing, technique/skill, etc. Which one of these expresses that about my voice better? I'm not sure. Each song showcases different qualities, I think.
I want something that gets the crowd. It isn't necessary that Seikan Hikou-type songs suit that job, as I think some of the other choices can also affect the audience. Who knows?
