The results of insomnia AKA Anime Parents who Deserve the Worst Parent Award
In animanga it seems that the parents of children are either dead, or simply ignorant. Its like its necessary that the characters have no adult supervision (Disney movies are guilty of this too). So here are a list of parents from anime who really shouldn't have bothered procreating. It was tough figuring out the requirements, should I include dead people? Legal guardians? I figured that that would make the list a little too short so I included both dead parents and legal guardians. This isn't in any particular order either. Trying to rank them properly would be too difficult. Here we go. Oh also, this might have spoilers...
1. Monkey D. Dragon (One Piece)
The father of main protagonist Monkey D. Luffy. He's listed as an enemy of the World Government because he's the leader of a revolutionary group. Here's why he's a crappy father: Luffy didn't even know his father's name until the age of 17. Now that's just sad. Though this could be the fault of Luffy's grandfather who happens to be a high ranking marine. Anyway, Not only is Dragon conspicuously absent from his son's life, Luffy doesn't even know what his father looks like. But I think that's a good thing. I mean, look at him. I pray to God that Luffy gets his looks from his mother. And just who is his mother? No one knows. Not to mention that he's proud that his son is also an enemy of the World Government and smiles in the face of death. Great job dad.
2. Hibari Kyouya's Parents (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)
Where the hell are you people? Do you even know that your 16 year old son is still attending middle school even after graduating? Not to mention that he quite happily beats the crap out of anyone that happens to look at him funny. There's not much I can say about these two seeing as they don't seem to actually exist. It's like the earth spit Hibari up out of the ground or something. I wouldn't be surprised as he just spawned on the grounds of Namimori Middle School or something.
3. Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina (Naruto)
Okay, don't hate me for these two, but come on. Between the two of them, Kushina didn't have to die. She totally could have survived and raised her son. Honestly, I think she was being a bit selfish in joining her husband (?) in death. Were they ever married? Whatever. I get that as Hokage, Minato is pretty much expected to make sacrifices for the sake of the village, but come on. They left their son to be raised in complete misery and isolation. What kind of dicks do that.
4. Yassop (One Piece)
Oh look, a double entry for One Piece. Yassop is an awesome pirate, and he might have done a good job raising Ussop for a while. But you don't leave your kid to his own devices after his mother dies. You fucking check on him. I think One Piece has taught us one thing. If your a criminal of any kind, don't bother having kids. Seriously.
5. All of Natsume's Previous Guardians (Natsume Yuujinchou)
These people are just fucked up. I get that they tried to take care of a kid they might not want, and that he might come across as strange, but that's no reason for him to come away with issues. Seriously.
