And now I'm going to tell you what I lost.
A contest.
I just found out.
It was for a poetry contest for this huge prize that you use to travel outside of the United States and stay out for a year. They even picked 2 people this time (and that's rare). And one of them is an associate professor someplace with 3 published books! I can't imagine this person makes too shabby a living. Do they even need a contest to acquire the money for the travel? Ok, maybe the pay scale for a university professor's assistant is far less than a university professor and they did need the money, but I can almost guarantee, not as much as I do. I know I'm good. I know I sent in good work. This contest could have changed my whole life.
