“Wait! You were just playing around right? You didn’t mean it, did you? Please tell me that these are all jokes. Please tell me you are not going to end our story,” the boy asked in tears. He was asking for the truth from the girl.
“I’m sorry, but I have to end it now. That is the truth. I am so sorry…” The girl walked away in teary eyes and disappeared from the sight of the boy.

Two years had passed since the day Miri left him. Until now he still doesn’t know the reason why she left him. Had he done anything wrong to her? Their seed of love had grown for 4 years. It was not a long period, but they shared everything throughout the 4 years of their love.
He walked along the road with his band mates. Only his body was there but his mind was somewhere else that even he could not figure out where. His eyes caught a figure of a girl at the opposite shop. The girl looked familiar.
As she turned around, Ryosuke saw her face. It was her! It was Miri. He ran towards her and left his band mates dumbfounded.
“MIRI!” The girl heard a familiar voice calling out her name. It was Ryosuke, it was him! I must hide myself now, or else what I have done for him all this year will be a waste. She ran away to hide herself but since Ryosuke ran faster than her, he managed to catch up.
He grabbed her hands and turned her around. He noticed that the girl looked so pale and she was shivering.
“Miri why did you…?” He could not finish his sentence suddenly the girl collapsed. He panicked. What should he do now? Just in time, his band mates headed towards him and gave him a hand. Keito took Ryosuke’s bag and Yuto helped him lift up Miri onto his back. They hurried to the hospital.
When they came out of the hospital Ryosuke saw Miri’s parent waiting for her at the entrance. He walked towards them and explained everything. Her parents thanked him and his friends. They told him that if he was not there Miri might’ve been in danger.
“In danger? What do you mean? Did anything happen to her?” He asked nonstop.
“She is suffering from DSRCT or desmoplastic cancer. It has been three years and I am sorry that I was the one who asked her to end your relationship. We didn’t want you to see and suffer with her, and most importantly, we didn’t want to burden you with taking care of her,” explained her father.
“Why uncle? Why? She is not a burden for me. I can help you to take care of her. I don’t mind dividing my time for practices and taking care of her. I don’t want to leave her alone. I want to be by her side taking care of her and supporting her.”
“Yeah uncle, we can help Ryosuke too. For us Miri is just like our sister. She is so nice to us. She always brings us foods when he has practices,” said Yuya.
“And there was a time when I was sick she took care of me too. Now it is my turn to take care of her,” said Ryutaro.
Miri’s parents were so touched by them and thanked them for their help. The doctor came out from the room. He said that Miri was fine but she needed more rest and to not let her out again by herself. If she wanted to go anywhere, she must tell the nurse and have someone to accompany her.
The 10 of them were in Miri’s room, waiting for her to open her eyes. Two hours had passed. There was still no sign of her waking up.
There was a small movement of her hand.
“Ryosuke, I am sorry. I am so sorry…I hurt you...I…” Ryosuke put his fingers on Miri’s mouth not letting her to talk more.
“It is okay. I know everything. You don’t have to talk now. Just take a rest.”
“Miri…you are awake now…ahhhh…we are so glad, so take a lot of rest okay Miri? We are going home now. Tomorrow we will come again.” With a sign to his band mates, Takaki walked out from the room.
“Yeah Miri, tomorrow we will come again, and Ryosuke don’t be home too late, or else you have to sleep outside,” said Yabu.
The nine of them walk out from the room giving some space for the two of them.
“Where are mom and dad?”
“They are at home. I asked them to get some rest. I will take care of you until night. So now just get some rest. I will be here and not going anywhere. I won’t leave you here. Promise…” And he gave a small kiss on her cheeks.

It has been sixteen months since Ryosuke met again with Miri. Everyday he visited Miri in the hospital. Everyday he would bring a flower for her. He even bought Miri her favorite manga. He didn’t want Miri to feel bored in the hospital and her chemo.
He read the message from Yabu.
‘Ryosuke, everything is ready. We just have to wait for you to bring her here.’
It was Miri’s birthday. They wanted to celebrate it and give Miri a special birthday party. They planned to do it at her house since today the doctor let her to be home after 2 years she had been staying in the hospital. Though her condition was getting worse, she insisted on wanting to be treated at home. There was something to be done at home by her.
30 minutes later Ryosuke arrived with Miri.
“SURPRISE! Happy Birthday Miri!”
“Welcome home Miri,” her parents greeted her.
They took Miri to the dining room and sang the Happy Birthday song. Miri eyes became teary. She could not help it but cry. She was speechless.
Ryosuke took out a small box from her jacket and openned it. There was a necklace with the letters R and M. He put it around her neck and whispered to her,
“Happy Birthday Miri…I love you.”
She looked at the necklace and played it with her finger.
“Thank you Ryosuke…”
They enjoyed the party and it has already past midnight. Miri’s parent invited the boys to sleep over at their house since there were two empty rooms. After cleaning up they went to bed.
‘Knock, knock...’
Miri’s mom was knocking her door. But there was no reply. She has knocked it for few times but there was no answer.
“Why has she not woken up? The boys are about to go home now. Miri…Miri dear, Ryosuke and his friends are about to leave. Have you woken up dear?”
Still no answer…so she just opened the door and walked to Miri’s bed.
“Miri honey, wake up, the boys are going to leave now. Don’t you want to say goodbye to them?” No reply and no movement. She moved her hand to Miri’s nose and put the other hand on Miri's chest. She was not breathing and there were no heart beats.
“Miri…wake up dear, don’t play games! Miri…Miri!”
“What is the noise upstairs? Isn’t Miri awake yet?” asked Miri’s father from downstairs.
The boys and Miri’s father went upstairs to Miri’s room. They saw Miri’s mother crying beside Miri.
“What happened aunty?” asked Ryosuke.
“Miri….she is gone…she left us…” she could not say any further.
“MIRI!” Ryosuke cried.
“Miri, why now? Why now Miri...you haven’t say goodbye to me!” He fell on his knees. Daiki came to him and calmed him down.
“Don’t suffer so much Ryosuke…God has arranged it to be like this,” Daiki said, his voice shaking. He could not stop his tears from falling.
Chinen saw three letters on the table. He saw Ryosuke’s name on it and the other two were for her parents and Jump’s members.
He handed the letter over to Ryosuke.
“Dear Ryosuke,
I am sorry I have to go like this. It has been destined that we can’t be together. I love you and I always will. To love someone doesn’t mean we have to be right with them. It is enough to me that our affections are mutual. Don’t stop loving me because I will never stop loving you.
Thank you for everything that you have done for me. You took care of me when I was sick, and you still loved me even though you knew that I might be soon gone. My body may not be here with you anymore, but my heart, soul and love will forever reside with you.
This necklace…I give it to you back. Take care of it for me. In my drawer, there are boxes that are filled with your presents. Take care of them too…”
