Summary: Through big losses, we can find big gains.
Author's Note ~ AND THIS CHAPTER IS LONGER THAN THE LAST. ... but it took longer to get done. =w= I actually really like how this chapter started. I was really focused around the beginning and middle, but the end.... bleh. It kinda gets poopy because I started watching TV while I was typing so I got a bit distracted, and I'm not really one to go back and change a lot after it's all been written.. sdkjafldsf

“Seungie ~ ! Over hereeeee!!” The perky blonde yelled to the other, frantically waving his hands around in the air. “Hurry up!”
“I’m coming I’m coming.” The brunette sighed, pushing himself away from the large oak tree he had been resting against. Hyunseung smiled - this park was one of his favorite places to be. So many of his favorite memories had taken place at this park, with the bubbly boy he was with at the moment. Every birthday until he had moved away had taken place at this park. And when he moved back after 3 years, Yoseob had helped him to forget the horrible memories by taking him to this park. It was his safe place - his haven.
“Yah! Why are you walking so slowly??” Yoseob practically yelled in Hyunseung’s face.
Shocked at the other suddenly being right in front of him, Hyunseung tripped and fell at Yoseob, knocking them both to the ground. They laid like this for a while - Hyunseung’s body draped over Yoseob’s, their faces dangerously close, Hyunseung’s face painted red while Yoseob’s had a silly smirk drawn on it.
“AH-! Sorry Seobie!” The brunette flung himself off of his friend and to the side, scurrying away slightly and covering his tomato face.
Yoseob’s smirk grew.
“Seungggggggg~” Yoseob cooed in a singsong voice as he scooted toward the shy boy. “Why do you look soo embarrassed??”
“Yoseobbb..” Hyunseung’s head drooped as the other teased him. Being physically close to others was one of his biggest fears, ever since he had moved back to his home. Normally, contact with another, even just a slight brush on the arm, would terrify him. It still did. But not when it came to Yoseob - not when it came to his best friend. “Don’t tease me Yoseob..”
“Why? It’s so funnn to tease you Seungie!” Giggling slightly, Yoseob launched himself at the unsuspecting Hyunseung and began squeezing his cheeks. “How can I not tease you when you’re thisssssss cute and squishy??”
“Y-Yoseob!” Hyunseung squeaked, his body trembling slightly and his face flushing more, if that was even possible. He tried to push himself away from Yoseob, away from the skin contact, but it was to no avail. Yoseob’s hands were practically glued to his face, probably leaving marks from his pinching.
“Ah- I suppose that this is a bit too much?” Backing off slowly to observe the other, Yoseob smiled as Hyunseung lightly rubbed his red cheeks.
“Noooooo, what made you think that?”
Irritation was clear in Hyunseung’s voice, but Yoseob knew he was just joking.
Yoseob’s smile grew.
“SO! Do you know why we’re at the park today?” Yoseob jumped to his feet happily then reached his hand out to the other to help the other to his feet.
“Ah. Now that you mention it, I really don’t know why.” Hyunseung scratched at the back of his head, looking toward Yoseob for some hints. Yoseob’s smile was now wider than it had been it quite a while, and Hyunseung couldn’t help but smile too. His best friend was truly a sight to behold - his striking blonde hair shining in the dull light of the oncoming sunset, his flawlessly smooth skin, his heartwarming smile…
Hyunseung also loved the other’s personality - Yoseob could talk with anyone about anything and it would never get awkward. He was always cheerful and full of smiles, something Hyunseung would never be able to say about himself.
But what Hyunseung loved the most about the other was that Yoseob had selflessly introduced him to the world, and every good thing in it. When they were together, he was never able to think about the bad parts of his life. Negativity was one thing that did not exist when Yoseob was around.
Hyunseung sighed.
I wish I was more like you…
“Earth to Hyunseung!!” A high-pitched voice rang in his ears, causing Hyunseung to almost fall over again.
“Sorry sorry sorry sorry ~” Hyunseung sang as a reply, which Yoseob happily responded back to.
“Nega nega nega munjuh~” Yoseob began to mimic the dance.
“Negeh negeh negeh bbajuh~” Hyunseung quickly joined in with the dancing.
“Bbajuh bbajuh bulyun baby~” Both held the last note for longer than necessary, exaggerating the motions of the dance to make it even more fun and enjoyable.
Both the boys burst out laughing as they kept singing to one of their favorite songs.
“Ok ok enough singing.” Yoseob patted Hyunseung on the shoulder, indicating to the other that it was time to pay attention. “
The brunette looked at the blonde, ready to find out why exactly they were here.
Yoseob stayed silent. No words came from his mouth as they both stood still for almost ten minutes. Tapping his feet, it was obvious that Hyunseung had begun to get impatient.
“Are you going to tell me or not Yoseob?”
Yoseob’s grin widened at Hyunseung’s question.
“Seung Seung Seung…” Shaking his head back and forth, a slight look of disappointment shadowing his face, Yoseob sighed. “How could you not know? Not SEE?”
Hyunseung only stared blankly, causing another sigh from his friend.
“Hyunseung, we’re celebrating you being able to see again -”
And time stopped. Yoseob halted midsentence, the birds that had been flying above had paused midflight - everything was standing still. Everything except for the scared boy with wide, horrified eyes.
“S-Seobie…?” As he stepped forward slightly, terrified by what was happening, he reached his hand out to his best friend. Hyunseung was truly hoping that Yoseob was just messing with him, and that there was a logical explanation to everything that was happening, or wasn’t happening, but as his hand met with the side of Yoseob’s face, Hyunseung’s heart shattered.
Yoseob began to slowly fade away, causing panic to rise in Hyunseung’s eyes. “Yoseob.. Yoseob!”
As he reached out again for his best friend, his world faded away, until nothing was left.
Everything was black.
Junhyung looked over to the lump under his covers, sighing at himself as he sat at the end of the bed.
Why why why did I bring him back to my house??
Junhyung mentally cursed himself, and couldn’t help but facepalm himself too. He had just brought a stranger into his home - into his bed! And this stranger was no ordinary stranger. He was a stranger that jumped out of a hospital window and fallen on top of him! And he had taken the fallen angel home.
“Stupid stupid stupid!!”
The black haired male sat there for quite some time just cursing himself and his horrible judgment before realizing that a, he was sitting on both of the stranger’s legs, and b, it had been over eight hours and his angel still hadn’t woken up! Rising up with a sigh, Junhyung excused himself from his own bedroom that he had selflessly lent to his stranger and wobbled over to the empty kitchen. Glancing at the note taped to the fridge, Junhyung spat and ripped it off.
“Typical of them, leaving me here.”
Since he had left the school for the hospital at 4:00PM, nothing good had happened in the nine hours that had passed. He had been waiting for Yoseob, who strangely still hadn’t contacted him, for about an hour, and then he had his encounter with his angel. For the next eight hours he stayed with the sleeping boy, ignoring all the texts and calls from his friends because he didn’t want to wake the other up.
But he really did want the other to wake up. Junhyung wanted so badly to have the other arise from his slumber so that he could see the boy’s eyes - hear the boy’s voice. And maybe tease him a little bit. Yes, Junhyung was planning on teasing the boy quite a lot. How could he not? He had practically slammed Junhyung to the ground when he had jumped out the window.
“That’s not entirely true though..” He thought back to when he had come in contact with the other. Literally. Hyunseung had been as light as a feather - it was like the wind had been cradling him gently and had decided to lightly deliver the body into his arms.
Junhyung shook his head, clearing his thoughts.
“I do want to know why exactly he was in the hospital, and why he had decided to leap..”
Sighing, Junhyung pushed the questions he had for the boy to the back of his mind. Since it was 1:00AM and he was just a tad bit annoyed that he didn’t have a bed to rest in, he decided to scout out some other possible sleeping locations.
After another hour of searching for pillows and blankets in his house, since he couldn’t really get them from his room, Junhyung settled onto the living room couch, mindlessly tossing the blanket over his body.
He decided now was a good time to pull out his phone, at about 2:00AM.
[Yah, Seob, where’d you go today?]
Junhyung didn’t really expect to get a reply since it was pretty late, so he thought that maybe it was a good time to deal with some other things. Dialing a number he knew all too well, he stayed silent as he waited for the person on the other end of the line to answer.
“Nng, Junnie.. why are you calling so late dear?”
“Mom, where’d you and dad go this time?”
“Ah, we decided to fly to Hawaii for the weekend, honey! Doesn’t that sound so peaceful?” The woman on the other end laughed lightly, causing Junhyung’s eyebrows to furrow.
“…Why the hell do you two do this?” His voice came out more fierce than he had intended.
The woman was silent.
“…Junnie, dear, what do you -”
“DAMMIT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN MOM.” Junhyung screamed, his voice echoing throughout the house. The other boy’s presence in his room was completely forgotten as his voice became hoarse from yelling. “YOU AND DAD DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ME ANYMORE. I HAVEN’T SEEN YOU TWO IN OVER FOUR FUCKING MONTHS!”
Breath ragged, Junhyung plopped himself back down on the couch, not remembering when he had even stood up. He closed his eyes as an attempt to calm himself down, but all he saw was red, so he opened them again. Then he noticed the message light on his phone blinking.
“Junnie, you know that we love you..” The woman’s voice was soft and distant, and Junhyung knew that she didn’t mean anything she was saying.
“Forget it. I’m done with you two. Do me a favor and don’t come back to the house EVER again.” With that, Junhyung pressed the call end button.
After a few minutes of just sitting and thinking about what had just happened, he opened his phone again and was happy to see that Yoseob had replied to his text. But as he read the message, all the happiness left him.
[I’m so sorry Jun… Something really serious came up. I- I’m really scared right now..]
[What’s wrong Seob?? Do you want me to come over? I can be ready in a few minutes.]
[No.. You don’t need to come. We can discuss this tomorrow at school, ok? I really need rest..]
As Junhyung was typing in his reply, insisting that he should come over and support his friend, another text from Yoseob stopped him short.
[I don’t need help. This is a personal matter. I’m sorry for bringing it up. Goodnight, Jun.]
[Night Seob..]
And with that, Junhyung decided to go to sleep.
Not that he succeeded though.
The next time Junhyung looked at his clock it was 4:13AM, and he hadn’t slept a wink. All night he had had three things racing through his mind - his conversation with his mother, the texts he had exchanged with Yoseob, and the mysterious boy sleeping in his bedroom.
His mother was the minor of the three problems though. Junhyung and his parents had never really gotten along, not that they had ever had a chance to, since his parents were never even around. It was a matter he had learned to deal with since he was little, but lately it had been getting unbearable. Before, he’d get to see his parents for a week or two before they left on their long trips, but now he didn’t even seem to get as much as an hour with them. It had been about four months since he had last seen them, since they had apparently come home and then left while he had been at school, and he was done with it.
Yoseob and his text messages, on the other hand, were pretty damn important to him. Yoseob was one of his best friends, and he did have a little thing for the perky blonde, not that he would ever admit it. But Yoseob was always laughing and smiling - he was the most positive and bubbly person Junhyung knew, so it troubled him that the boy was acting completely opposite than he should. It made him worry. He had never really experienced Yoseob acting this way, except for that one day three months ago…
Then Junhyung’s thoughts drifted back to the stranger. The stranger, who was in his house. The stranger, who was sleeping in his bed at this very moment.
The stranger that really needs to wake the fuck up already..
Junhyung groaned. Thinking about the stranger seemed to always make him feel stressed, so he just decided to drop the thoughts he was having and finally get some well-earned sleep, to which his subconscious happily allowed. The last thing he could think before he drifted away was one simple thought.
My fallen angel…
Has he woken up yet?
Junhyung’s eyes groggily opened as he glanced at the clock on the table next to the couch.
Fuck. It’s already 7:30AM?
Stretching his arms out behind him, Junhyung rose and made his way to get some breakfast, scratching at his bare stomach as he did so. Junhyung always had a problem when it came to sleeping - whenever he’d wake up, his shirt would be half way across the room. He’d never remember taking it off, but he must have, since there was no one else in the room.
No one but -
Junhyung could hear the door to his room slam against the wall. He heard footsteps making their way down the hall and in his direction. He heard small gasps as a body collided with the wall and then the floor. He considered going to check on what exactly was going on, but he had a hunch.
Is my angel finally awake~?
Waiting patiently at the entrance to the hallway that contained all the ruckus, Junhyung tapped his foot on the floor. Maybe he wasn’t so patient after all. The hell is taking him so long? Junhyung inwardly sighed and took the initiative, stepping through the threshold. What he saw wasn’t at all what he had been expecting though. He knew his angel was pretty, but he didn’t expect him to be so… so…
“Beautiful..”
Hyunseung’s head shot up as he held himself against the wall. His entire body was terribly weak, and he was having trouble supporting himself with his own two feet. As he heard the sound of another voice, his body started to tremble slightly.
Where am I? Why am I… Why is it I still can’t see? Am I not dead…?
He took another step, in the direction of the voice, but did it in a very cautious manor. He kept his hands firm against the wall and slid them forward with every step, occasionally taking one off the wall to check directly in front of him. After three months, Hyunseung still wasn’t comfortable with walking while not being able to see where he was going. His head was held low so that he could focus more on finding his way, than the fact that he couldn’t see where he was going.
“Ah - Erm, hello..” Junhyung whispered slowly. Though he was practically blinded by the boy’s beauty, Junhyung couldn’t help but thing that something was off about him.
Again Hyunseung’s head rose quickly at the sound of someone else’s voice. He looked everywhere for the source of the voice, but then his head slowed to a stop - he remembered then that he couldn’t see.
“Who- Who’s there? Where are you?”
Junhyung looked straight into the boy’s eyes, completely and utterly shocked.
“Uhm, I’m here...”
“Where?”
Junhyung stepped forward so that he was face to face with Hyunseung, but the latter didn’t seem to notice. As he placed his hands on Hyunseung’s shoulders, Junhyung saw how the brunette flinched in surprise, and something clicked in his mind.
“You.. Can you not see me?”
Hyunseung paused, then laughed a dry laugh. Junhyung winced.
“That- That’s stupid. What, do you think I’m blind or something?” Throwing the other’s hands off of his shoulders, Hyunseung made to step past the other and leave, but he ended up walking straight into the other. His hands momentarily brushed against Junhyung’s upper body, and Hyunseung quickly backed away as he felt bare skin against his hands.
“You can’t see me! Don’t lie!” Junhyung made to grab Hyunseung’s shoulders again, but Hyunseung had been expecting that to happen and luckily dodged with ease and walked past him.
“I can see fine you shitface.”
“Then why are you about to walk into a wall?” Junhyung raised an eyebrow as Hyunseung came to a quick halt, looking around nervously and stretching his arms forward.
“I lied. There’s no wall there.”
Completely embarrassed, Hyunseung flushed red and kept walking, feeling his way into what he assumed was a living room. As soon as he found the couch, he plopped himself down and drooped his head. He sighed.
“So, who are you exactly?”
Junhyung had been tailing the boy as he felt his way around the room, making sure that he didn’t walk into anything or knock something over. As he sat down on the couch next to his beautiful angel, he grabbed his phone and flipped it open.
“I’m Jun -AH! Shit, I’m late!” Jumping from the couch and to his feet, Hyunseung looked up scared as Junhyung hopped around the room, collecting his school uniform and books which were scattered around the living room. “Sorry about this kid, but I’m seriously late for school right now.”
Hyunseung just stared off in the direction of the voice with a confused look and nodded for no real reason. “You’re leaving? But… isn’t this your house? That’s what I’m assuming…”
“Yeah, this is my pad. But I’m late for school. It’s not so much that I need to get there to learn, but I’ve got some stuff I gotta do today.”
I’ll have to find Yoseob right away…
“And you’re just going to leave me here? Me, some kid you don’t even know?”
Junhyung paused, dropping his toast from his hands as he looked over at the boy sitting on his couch. Was he really going to just leave this boy here in his house, all alone? Sure he looked innocent, and something seemed to be wrong with him, but he still could be up to something…
“Well, I doubt you’ve got anywhere else to go since when I met you you were jumping out a window.”
Hyunseung paused.
“I’m Junhyung by the way. And I seriously have to go to school now, so make yourself comfortable.”
As Junhyung made his way to the door, he smiled to himself. He was somewhat getting along with his angel, granted he had been yelled at by the other at first. Halfway out the door, Junhyung heard something and stopped.
“Hyunseung.” It was barely a whisper, and the boy was looking away as he spoke.
“Huh?”
My name. It's Hyunseung.”
Junhyung looked back, and his angel, Hyunseung, was smiling.
