About 20 years ago, I had a beloved paperback, that was coming apart at the seams, bound. Inside, the pages look decades older than they are because the edition was printed at that time when the highly acidic paper was commonplace and so they are yellowed and brownish at the edges, but at least not falling apart anymore.
I've never before heard of anyone doing that, but it's actually a good idea for an irreplaceable paperback. What a pleasure to be able to read old favorites in the format you first found them in.
When you mentioned some of the books you had of your mother's, I saw that this was among them, but I didn't want to give away my choices back then by remarking on it. 'Cause the suspense is a major part of this meme, right?
