In the case of this series, the fic tag could be construed as misleading. (I seem to have a tendency to go totally AU, like with my first MfU story.) You know what my response was though? I went and added a bunch of other tags. Might not have any positive effect, possibly a negative one, but that's what I was moved to do!
It's interesting about the use of tags to search. I hardly ever use them unless to look for an author to see if they have anything new. When I want to read something, I usually just browse what's new in a fandom or even start from the oldest stories. It's a version of scanning a bookcase for an appealling title or *shudder* cover. This will become obsolete, I suppose, as the analogue experience does, and search tags will be the way forward. It does reduce surprise which segues back into that discussion from months past about labelling ingredients.
Your thoughtful comments are encouraging. Sometimes I hoard them for a bit, to savour them. I think I will carry on with at least another installment of this story and re-evaluate after that.
It is, as you said, what experimenting is for and I'm waiting, very patiently, for when you wish to unveil the story for Annie (and for when she unveils hers). The POV switching is an intriguing exercise and seems to reveal hidden meanings.
I clicked on the original link and had a look around. I've opened a fic that I have no idea how I can read because my French is not very strong and the fic is looong, but it's about a dancer and Bejart and a ballet I love. Argh!!
I suppose the only way people will find stories there is if they decide to browse the "original works" category. Although they might not even know such a category exists. You know what area we are approaching with these thoughts...
Stopping the rambling now!

Same here. Until they have a tag for "good writing" (that I trust), the tags don't help me. I don't read in many fandoms anyway, and not in any really large ones, so it's easy just to browse and sample. The only place I use the search function is MFU, and there it's in a negative sense, to cut out the noise of the 500 stories by the same author.
It feels odd to be writing without a looming deadline, so I've been playing around a bit--not very efficient perhaps, but I'm learning things :)
