Oct 22, 2011 22:59

Part III has been a very long time coming, so everyone's patience probably ran out ages ago. If, by some miracle, it has not, then here is a further expansion of Third, an Easter Egg I posted at MFU Writers Survival School in April 2010 and continued in May. Some readers wanted to know more about Illya's mysterious friends. Palme d'Or starts the ( Read more... )

Well worth waiting for! I do hope that Napoleon will catch up and that Illya will let him when he does. I suspect that poor Napoleon is just having trouble overcoming his fear and that when he finally does he will no longer feel the need to sabotoge his happiness with his partner. Poor Napoleon. But Lucky Illya to have such friends that love him unconditionally.

Thank you so much for being willing to pick up the thread of this story after so long. Nearly a year and a half is really a bit much!

I have some more back story to work in at some point of how Illya met those friends, but at this rate I wouldn't dare to predict when I might get it into coherent shape to post!

How completely mesmerizing. I find myself, contrary to what is intended, perhaps, wishing that Illya and Sasha would discover that her son is their son, and run away together to live happily ever after. They are so wonderful together.
In any case, I enjoyed being able to read all three parts as one. Thank you for posting these.

I am so pleased you liked it/them. The story started with the photo I use as a screencap, but it has been a long time developing. I am especially pleased that you liked Sasha since sharing Illya with anyone is difficult. One of the advantages to posting a story in segments is getting feedback about characters or plot direction so your view about the child is very helpful.

Thank you!

Once in a while someone writes another character who really fits into the lives of Illya and/or Napoleon. In those instances, I can't help but wish them well; it overcomes even my selfish sense of possession ;)

It's a really extraordinary story... Hope (and know) that Napoleon will soon see reason and fly towards Illya. But of course, Sasha... Hurry up, Napoleon...
Thank for this!

Napoleon is both a reasonable and an intuitive man, so he should be able to find his path.

Thank you for reading!

You write so beautifully, and I really enjoy your evocation of the film world. The last line is marevllous in its simplicity and depth.

Illya utilised so much acting in his work for UNCLE it seemed exploring that side of his talents and his possible past might be interesting.

Thank you so much for reading a continuation after all this time and for mentioning details! :-)

I totally agree with you that there could credibly have been some professional acting in Illya's past, but I don't think I've ever seen a fic that takes that idea and does so much with it. Sasha's a great character, too.

I am encouraged to wade into the considerable back story notes/fragments I have about the origins of that experience. There is always the question as to whether more than a small bit of it would be appropriate to incorporate into narrative. There is a temptation to have a considerable flashback section, but the temptation should possibly be resisted. My next challenge after DtC perhaps?

What a wheen of background - you've enough here for a novel and I agree with Glenna that those two are so well suited it is a pity not to let them have a happy ending together! I was so caught up in their world I had almost forgotten Napoleon too.

That's a good line about Napoleon wanting all of him without offering all of himself, and brings it back very neatly to what presumably will be a greater love story. But you have set yourself up for a lot more writing!!!

Patience is a virtue, and the next turn is worth waiting for.

I have and I am worried about meeting the challenge of it all within some sort of rational time frame! There's back story and moving forward to the reviews and onward from there...

I am delighted and relieved that you like the relationship between Sasha and Illya, that it seems plausible. And let me say again how much I appreciate your commentary!
