F-list, stand by me. Input needed.
As some of you might know (mostly because I won't shut up about it), I've come to appreciate Gale/Randy RPS over the past year or so.
It so happens, that I've felt a tug lately. A tug that proved to be somewhat insistent. A tug that comes tangled with faint plot ideas. A tug towards writing Gale/Randy fic.
Now, I'm asking for your assistance in the most fundamental of fundamental questions:
Should I start writing G/R RPS? And will you read it? *flails*
I used to find RPS creepy, mostly because I've always felt uncomfortable with anything too closely related to the real people, the actors. I steered clear of most of the trivia surrounding the QaF cast and all that jazz. I still do that, actually. Most of the time, anyway. *remembers a recent post of ice cream truck icons*
But! I've changed my view on RPS fic profoundly. I've come to think of G/R as just another fictional pairing, that in a way, has little to do with the actual actors. Sure, they have their looks, their jobs, and all that, possibly some of the character traits we assign to either of them. Here's where it starts getting fishy again, because honestly, how would we know what they are like? Since we've never played a game of Truth Or Dare with them or invited them to a cup of coffee, the provided bases for judgment are interviews and rumors, which don't quite make for reliable sources for characterization. This lack of knowledge however, comes in handy for my appreciation of RPS, because it adds to my notion of detaching the RPS fic from the real people.
Still I'm not sure I'm okay with being an RPS writer! *head desk*
I know, one might think I have no real problems in life for making such a biggie out of this. I'm just... I'm a ponderer, you know? And I tend to let that particular trait of mine roam free in things/decisions I actually hold the upper hand in. The real problems in life don't usually give you too much scope anyway.
