thanks(for)giving(deep-fried turkey)

Arriving here freshly culture-shocked from netlagd's journal where I learned about the safety hazards of turkey deep fryers, I realized I want to ramble a bit about today.
(Deep-frying a turkey? Seriously? :D)

So, today I'm pretty jealous of you (US-)Americans on my f-list.

I'm not that crazy about the Thanksgiving tradition (or the ambiguous origin), but man, would I love to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey with awesome stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and and...

I was thinking about trying to make a pumpkin pie, but I'd probably just fail. Also, seeing as I'd have to make everything myself (pumpkin puree isn't really something you can buy here and I'm not even sure about those pie crusts) and considering my usual work tempo, I'd spend a whole day on the thing. Only to leave the kitchen a disaster zone, of course.

Yeah, I think I'll stick to the mashed potatoes. That I can manage.

Can someone invite me next year? :( I'll be like, the funny and dorky European exchange student, the kind everyone loves in teenie movies? You can parade me to your family and friends!

Oh and, yeah, Happy Thanksgiving to you all... *grumbles*

random randomness, my life with sakesushimaki, things that make me look stupid
