So this is a series...?

I finally watched the parody movie, Katana-Man, thanks to the invention of digital tv. http://www.utbhollywood.com/program/e-1817.html

But all I got to say about my experience was... huh? What did I just watch? This film has got it all. A Zorro-like figure, a ballerina, a European missionary, Hattori Hanzo, time traveling, random yakuza, a goofy "super squad" of teenagers, a floating Gordon Lui, and more~! What's the story really about? Something about Katana-Man saving Japan from some bad guys and doing cheap stunts while he's at it. It was pretty bizarre and random but it least it had Japanese subtitles for the laughably bad non-Japanese speaking parts. Not that it helped the movie make anymore sense really...

In all honesty, what kept me watching was how purposely cheap the entire thing looked. It screams like a two-week college/high-school production (and I don't mean the good ones), like a good callback to the early seventies. I mean, Katana-Man looked like he barely knows martial arts and he's pummeling the snot out of all his adversaries. But that's probably the movie's charm. Plus it had some awkward sounding English/Japanese from non-native speakers (a lot like the 80's).

Anyways, it was a good ride and I'm actually morbidly curious about the second film they said was in the works. Here's the actual English synopsis for you guys. It's... a treasure: http://www.wildthing.co.jp/wolves/katanaman/english/story.html
