Little pujari and friends.

The Little Pujari had a seemingly constant, feelingless, grin fixed on his face. I thought it deserved to be a photograph, so I asked him if I can take a picture, he nodded, and flicked off his grin. Disappointed, I put the camera down. Then he flicked on that toothy smile again.

Rinse and repeat. In the end, I got fed up and took the picture anyway. My hands shook at the critical moment - I was in a hurry to catch up with others in eating breakfast. Still I am liking this.

We were on a trek to Bheemeshwari last month, and stopped near a temple somewhere after Kanakpura for breakfast. The trek was meant chiefly for children, but we had no idea about that until we showed up. And oh the children, such an energetic bunch! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of them, I just didn't feel like taking pictures.

And, on this particular summer journey, I got a better idea why our ancestors considered rivers as goddesses - how we actually treat them is another thing, though. With the scorching Indian summers, there's basically no other way you can think of a river. River Cauvery definitely appeared to be a very generous goddess, after a few hours in that sun.
