This really shows how Goku Notices things. He doesn't have to say anything the way Gojyo does, or refrain the way Hakkai does.

Gojyo gives him funny looks and complains she's too much like Sanzo, but she's really not much like Sanzo at all.

While I am an avid 393er, I have to say that I enjoyed this very, very muchly. I agree that I don't think she was just a substitute; I think she was vital to Goku growing into himself. He realized a LOT about himself when he was in that village, and I think that's going to be important later on. ^___^
