Secret Santa Fic Exchange 2011 - soliciting opinions
Hello, everybody!
I am, in fact, not dead, and to all of you I owe the sincerest and most grovelling apologies I can offer for my disappearance. There are a number of reasons why, none of which are adequate to excuse the trespass, but for anyone curious:
A long and boring story . . .
. . . which I will not go into in any particular depth. But during my holiday disappearance all of the following occurred:
-9+ hour bus rides between London and Edinburgh
-6+ hour plane flights between the US and the UK
-day-long trips to NYC
-three-day-long stretches of live-in-babysitting for an energetic toddler
-editing of multiple 4000-word academic papers
-hosting of two holiday parties for 10+ people each
-multiple drives through New England a-visiting
-marathon intensive two-day pre-Christmas shopping and wrapping
-JET LAG OH GODS
-trip to see the Nutcracker ballet
-my family. 'nuff said.
-unfortunate adventures relating to cats and vets and international pet import
-two job interviews
-inadvertent destruction of the structural integrity of my lower back, oops
-utter loss of my ability to go without sleep
-SO. MUCH. BAKING.
So, yes. I don't really have any good excuses; certainly past years have been just as busy. But for some reason this year I just couldn't handle the load, and so fell down on my responsibilities.
Regardless, since I only just got up the final three entries of the exchange, I'm going to hold off the Big Reveal until this weekend. In previous years I've given people a chance to vote for their favorite works and sent the winner a prize, but at the moment I'm poor as the proverbial churchmouse. So about the only thing I have to offer is my wannabe-professional-editor skills, and I'm not certain of what use those are to anyone (they are of extremely little use to me thus far, unfortunately).
Despite this, if people would like to have a vote for the sake of, I would be happy to put one together. If so, I will push the Big Reveal back to Chinese New Year, which is January 23 this year (happy anniversary, all you Dragons!). Otherwise, the Big Reveal will be on Saturday, January 21.
Go ahead and click that "leave a comment" button to tell me your opinions. Just this once flames will also graciously be accepted, given that they're warranted. Lay it on me, peeps!
