No, I won’t be joining you on Blogspot, Facebook or Twitter, stop sending me invites, you’re wasting valuable time you could be telling other people what you had for lunch or that you’re excited it’s Friday. It’s great that you’re having such a fascinating life, but you know back in the day we used to get by without knowing what you’re doing/ ( Read more... )

Thanks, and yeah, I couldn't believe that Twitter was real when I first heard about it, I thought it was a joke, but I should have known that some people just found MySpace a bit overwhelming and wanted something simpler that would limit how much they could do....

With you on YouTube, there is some very rare stuff on that, I enjoy looking up old newcasts and political ads going back to the 60s as well as hard to find bits of music. It would be a loss if the site vanished, but if you have a look at the Slate.com link I posted, it seems no one can seems to work out how to make money from user-generated content sites like YouTube and Facebook.

And I didn't have room for this in my post above, but fuck Hulu also. These dumb fucks actually think that by limiting the service to the US is going to do any good at all? Why? Don't give me that licensing crap, it's the internet, there are no boarders. As a fan of Conan O'Brien's work on The Simpsons I thought I'd check out how he did on the first episdoe of The Tonight Show, but every so-called video site was nothing other than a link to Hulu. So I decided to do things the old fashioned way and download it from a bittorrent site, and 15 minutes later I had the episode in HD quality. See, NBC and Hulu, if you'd let me watch it on your shitty sites you could have played some ads at me, but instead, because you were stupid, you lost out.

Yeah, it's another example of companies failing at the internet, they're losing money by denying the rest of the world access because there are many morons outside the US who still click on internet ads.

Twitter is the pits. And I mentioned Stephen Fry above, great bloke, very witty and intelligent, but is his Twitter steam worth reading? Fuck no. Stick to blogging people, at least you have the space to say something.

I agree with your whole twitter thing, I joined up as part of a socail experiement i did at uni, and I dont like it, i havent been back since i finished the experiment. the way twitter was created was actually quite interesting though.

The company was creating a computer game. the twitter concept was a small part of this game, but the company ran out of money to develop the game, so they took out the twitter function and marketed it on its own. they've made a fuck load of money out of doing so. quite innovative, and does appeal to the masses. But I don't like it personally.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. Goes to show though, how one idea can get you rich, all you need to do is get enough suckers to jump on board

Cheers for your input and good to see you on LJ again.

I trust Canada was to your liking?
