And I couldn't have picked a worse time to do it, as I *do* need to be out of the door in half an hour...oh well! So on the 29th I started working at South Shore Day Camp - I drive a mini bus for them five days a week and teach recorder for them two days a week. It's a relatively easy gig and pays decently. It also gives me time off in the middle of the day three days a week, which I definitely need. That's been working out okay. My bus counselor is an imbecile who is 15 and knows nothing about working with kids. While I can talk music with him and get along wtih him, I end up having to entertain the kids because he has no idea how to. So now I'm doing both our jobs, which is fine, because I had to do that at Coleman. But if I have to do both our jobs, get him off the bus, please!

4th of July weekend was AMAZING. So incredibly amazing. Friday night, Jackie, Greg and I drove out to my dad's place in the Hamptons, which is always a revolving door of people that weekend with the only constant being my parents. Greg's nervous, and I understand why, even though he shouldn't be, and he brings a nice fruit and nut platter. I had also told him that Marilyn likes Corona, so instead of bringing a six-pack, he brought a case. ::shakes head:: It was amusing, but the gifts were well received.
We attempted to go to the Foggy Goggle which had been AMAZING the previous year. Well...it sucked. The bar was not well stocked, the music bit, and the place was dead. Boo! So instead, we went into Southampton onto the main stretch and found a resturant bar called James on Main, which was really classy and had a mix of ages. Afterwards, we went to the Hampton Bays Diner, came home, and crashed. Dad was nice and gave the three of us the front room to share, so we were able to sleep late and not bother anyone else.
Saturday was spent by the pool and the Scrabble board. Dinner was a group function, and then we got ready to go out. Dad decided to be awesome and give me money to treat my friends. Sweet! We followed the limos to a place called Beach Bar and it was one of the best decisions we made all weekend. This place was hot!! The three of us went inside and started to dance. Within 30 seconds, I get tapped on the shoulder and it's Pete Carpaccio, a guy I worked with in Freeport! He had come out for the day/evening with 12 friends, and both Greg and Jackie knew some of them. I also knew a couple of the people they were with. Greg and I had fun, but Jackie takes the insane award for the night. She found one guy to dance with (and then some) all evening, danced on the bar, and at one point, kissed three different guys within 10 seconds. It was definitely a fun night, but I think that I started to get sick because of it. Boo.
Sunday was more pool and cards. I taught Jackie and Greg crates, which is a harder version of uno (uno actually was invented AFTER crates was) and we hung out at the house and played poker until about 10, when the three of us drove home. It was a great time out there - and what's even better is that things between Greg and my parents went so smoothly, and they barely saw each other! He made a relaly great impression on them, and he had fun in the process.
4th of July...
Greg and I took the train into the city for a BBQ at his friend Matt's apartment. The apartment is on the upper east side off of Park Avenue, and he has a patio AS LARGE AS THE APARTMENT ITSELF. 'Nuff said, right? It was fun. It was a very "adult" BBQ, which was a first for me, but I enjoyed it. There was a lot of political discussion and just the discussion in general centered around adult topics. And it was really nice. Metrocards offically hate me, and due to that, we missed our subway, but we took a cab back to Penn Station and made the 9:05 train home. We got to see fireworks from the train, and all in all, it was a really great day.
Well that took far longer than I thought, and now I have to rush to get ready for the bus run. Comment please!
