The University of Southern Maine Women’s Studies Department is proud
to present transgender activist, author, playwright, and performance
artist, Kate Bornstein in “Damned Dreams and Dangerous Desires”.
Kate Bornstein is a celebrated pioneer of the LGBT community and
author of such books as Gender Outlaw: on men, women and the rest of
us and Hello Cruel World: 101 alternatives to suicide for teens,
freaks, and other outlaws.
Tenderly intimate and unapologetically edgy, Kate Bornstein ushers
the audience into a world of limitless possibilities by offering a
daring re-visioning of gender and a guide to staying alive outside
the box.
Opening for kate Bornstein on Wednesday night will be local drag
sensation, The Kings of the Hill.
Reviews of Kate Bornstein:
· “Kate celebrates the power of identity without
getting mired in the tarpits of identity politics. A breathe of fresh
air.” (performance artist Holly Hughes)
· “Inspiring and life affirming, Kate Bornstein
empowers us to fight for ourselves and for on another.” (actor Rosie
O’Donnell)
