Think about 100 years from now. Think about historians who want to know more about this era in which we are currently living. Assuming all the websites around now will be more or less preserved on hard disks, think of all the news sites, blogs, online newspapers, and forums where one in the future could learn about ANYTHING from this era. Millions of archived news stories, both subjective and objective. All the videos, photos, and images; all the mp3 files and webcomics and shopping websites. Every aspect of our existence, all the cultural phenomena that make up who we are today, will be on record for as long as the servers don't break down.
Now think about 4chan.
