I should be mindlessly staring at the computer screen "studying" for my Spanish oral presentation tomorrow. What am I doing instead? A music meme. Sounds like a great idea to me :)
List seven songs you are into right now. Whatever the genre, whether or not there are lyrics, or even if they're no good, they must be songs you are presently enjoying. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. (Download links are most welcome, but not mandatory!)
1)
Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People. I don't know what it is about this song, but I fucking love it. Everything about it. The simple beat, the eerie vocals, the dark lyrics. Trifecta of win, is it not? I'm also in love with the two other songs, Helena Beat and Houdini, on their EP, so I posted a download link for the whole thing.
I reason with my cigarette and say your hair's on fire. You must have lost your wits, yeah. All the other kids with the pumped up kicks better run, better run, outrun my gun. All the other kids with the pumped up kicks better run, better run, faster than my bullet.
2)
People Say by Portugal. The Man. This is a good driving song. It seems to frequently be on the radio when I'm on a mission, and I'm more than ok with that. It's a catchy tune :D
Save me, I can't be saved, I won't. I'm a president's son. I don't need no soul. All the soldiers say, "It'll be alright. We may make it through the war if we make it through the night." All the people, they say, "What a lovely day, yeah, we won the war. May have lost a million men, but we've got a million more." All the people, they say.
3)
Wondering by Does it Offend You, Yeah? No download link because the site I use doesn't have this band's new shit yet. I don't even know what it is about this song I like so much. I'm a sucker for randomly ridiculous techno bands XD
In my grave I turn, but what did I die of?
4)
Shameful Metaphors by Chevelle. Not entirely sure if this download link will work. My apologies if it doesn't. The lyrics to this song are what I'm enjoying most at the moment ^.^
So why then has all my life made no sound, and are your eyes closing even now? My life made no sound. I fear your eyes closing...
5)
The Ballad of Mona Lisa by Panic at the Disco. I used to love Panic back in seventh grade when a friend of mine introduced me to them. I thought they had the weirdest name ever, yet I was intrigued. Then, everyone else fell in love with the band. Discouraging, but I let it go until their second album was released. I was beyond disappointed and gave up on them. But this song, this new fucking album, is glorious. Perhaps they should have parted ways with Ryan and Jon sooner o.O
There's nothing wrong with just a taste of what you've paid for... ;)
6)
Load Me Up by Matthew Good Band. I fucking love Matthew Good. Lately, more so <3 His lyrics are so raw, so honest. I'd add Suburbia as well because the creepy instrumentals give me chills every single time, but there's no download link for the song. I highly recommend looking it up, though ;)
Picture yourself swimming in an ocean, a million miles from nowhere and the nearest phone. There's bodies in the water, floating all around you, and all of them are talking, and they're comedians. Hey are you, are you, are you, are you, you know? Hey are you, are you, are you, are you special? Hey are you, are you, are you, are you deformed? Hey, ya, you are. I'm frantic, so load me up. It seems so practiced, me fucking this up. Whatever puts me all the way out.
7)
Bought a Bride by Brand New. Brand. Fucking. New. I do believe they're my new favorite. This band, their lyrics, their vocals, their instrumentals <33333 Everyfuckingthing is love.
If everyone's a structure where their own savior sits, then I'm a little red house, but no one's living in it. Cars are little blood cells. We are oxygen. City is the airways, suburbs appendages. She was feeling lonely, so you let her hide. Rented out a family. We bought a bride, bought a bride. Little cities' names labeled along the map. They tied her up and laid her on the train tracks.
