Irish Fest

It was great to see Annie and Lex, Rob and Kyrie and Jay, Matt and Vee!  The drive down and back with Meggan, Chris and Maude was a Joy.  It was Maude's first public outing, and she did great.  My grandchildren are SO huggable.

Neither Seamus Kennedy nor the Trinity River Whalers were on the program (although we saw two of the band members of the Whalers there).  So, anyway, Dave had to find someone else's music.  The first performance we saw was a Celtic Dance program on the Emerald Stage, but they were accompanied by a LIVE BAND, Legacy.  So Dave now has a CD of Legacy's, and also he got one by The North Texas Caledonian Pipes & Drums.  He was happy as can be to just sit at the Shannon stage and listen to whoever came on.

It was TOO LOUD for me, and Lex asked almost as soon as we sat down, "Is it over now?"  So it was nice to leave Dave where he could sit and be contented, and then I could run around with Lex.  We spent a little on the rides (they are way overpriced, of course).  I don't know what I'll do in four years when I have three four-year-old granddaughters.  I could never afford many rides when my own six kids were little.  But there's plenty of other things to see and do.  Lex was much more interested in the Wii than he was in the Birds of Prey across the aisle.  In the kids area he wanted to paint, but not color or make a stuffed shamrock.  I was proud that I could still lift Lex up to sit on my shoulders!  He liked it, too, because then he could SEE!  That's how we finally found the ice cream booth after almost giving up and going back.  Then as soon as we got ice cream, Lex suddenly had to go to the bathroom, which opportunity he had just turned down 30 minutes before.  Yep, I remember what four-year-olds are like, now.

Contentment for granny was being just outside the Shannon Stage tent, seeing that my husband was happy inside, watching my grandson run circles around his newly made friends, holding a snuggly granddaughter and listening to great music that wasn't too loud.

Didn't get much hugging time with Vee.  Annie had her in the sling, and she went to sleep almost as soon as I saw her.  Sure looks like those eyes are going to stay blue, though!
