Just like time erodes relationships and makes forget the reasons why two persons got close, sad occurrences often work the miracle of bringing strangers together, even if both aren't completely unfamiliar to each other in the first place. Probably that's what had happened between them and it wasn't such a wild guess to think that way, after all.
Things had been different than what Aiolia had expected of the other man, especially because he imagined long lectures full of nonsense he could barely grasp. There had been moments like those too, but the silence that took over the Temple at times felt comfortable enough to whisper a prayer for the fallen. And if he had to be honest with himself, the presence of that Saint helped to create that environment.
There were no words now that he reached the large hall, just a wave of energy making echo of another as answer, a courtesy that remained as a habit even between close friends, thing they were still far from being.
The flowers seemed as fresh as ever, and though at first he has showed clear resistance to the fake gardens painted over the walls, he had learned to appreciate a bit of nature among the cold, lifeless stones.
"Today is green tea," long fingers wrapped around the small cup, steam clouding a soft smile as he brought the rim near to his lips.
"That reminds me of a trip," Aiolia imitated him, hearing the rain falling outside. "Is that sound..."
"Real?" Eyelids hid the other's amusement. "It sure is."
Had it been another occasion Aiolia would have probably gotten annoyed with that answer, but instead he felt glad he had crossed the neighbor's fence. And with this thought he allowed himself to smile back.
