In the Sanctuary nothing ever changes. That was something Shura was aware of, having witnessed by himself the fact that not even the weather differed from one day to the other.

Even so, he was surprised to see that the Temple of the traitor remained unchanged after years of abandonment. As he stepped into it, guided by an unstoppable curiosity, even the air felt the same. It was light, as if in that home there were no worries, but still had the peculiar scent of the other temples, that evidenced the many ages they had existed.

Shura wandered without any specific direction around the building, every mark on the stones raising one of the many memories he had buried deeply. Even the joyful laughter he had once grown attached to resounded inside his mind, but its sound was so clear that for second he believed it was truly echoing in the temple.

He decided to return towards the entrance after every minute that passed made him become more and more wary of his surroundings. It was wrong for the Temple of Sagittarius to be just like its lord had left it. When the traitor died years ago, he should have become unworthy of being called a Saint.

Before his steps reached outside the gates, the feeling of something being amiss halted him. He had been wrong when he assumed that everything was the same. Right then he could feel something that he had not noticed before. He turned his head and directed his gaze towards the area that was on the other end of the Temple.

Something was emanating from that wall, something that resembled a cosmo. Shura ran towards it, guided by the disbelief at the idea of life still existing in that place. He raised a trembling hand to the height of his face before resting it on the stones from where he could feel the energy coming.

Along with the cosmo that invaded his senses, reminiscences of a time he believed to be buried and forgotten were poured into his mind. His gaze unfocused, the scenery of the Temple becoming a blur as he could see himself, as a boy, calling out the traitor’s name, seeking for the attention that only he provided.

A scream that came from the depths of his self echoed inside the immortal building. He slammed his fists onto the wall, cursing the name he had sworn to never mention again, for it had become unworthy of being pronounced.

Something was behind that wall, something Aiolos had left behind. Something he couldn’t allow to exist.

"That night I killed you for the peace of the Sanctuary-- for Athena’s safety! How dare you to remain here?!"

It didn’t matter how many times he raised his hand and attacked the wall with the Excalibur, not one stone budged and the faint golden light continued to pour from between the tiles’ borders.

"Do you think this highly of yourself?! Even after being the weaker one, the loser, you still consider yourself to have the right to stay in this sacred place? How dare you, Aiolos!"

The words came between exhalations as he supported his hands on the wall in front of him. His eyes were fixed on the ground but he wasn’t looking at it anymore. As faint as the gold that shone in front of him was, it had managed to blind him enough to lose control. It took him time to recover, his breath slowly becoming even.

He straightened and with the fingers of his left hand pulled the hair stuck to his face away. He slammed his fist one last time before taking several steps back, until the space between him and the wall was large enough to turn around and not feel the cosmo burning his skin. He retreated as fast as he could, the oranges of the setting sun welcoming him to the outside.

Shura didn’t dare to turn around, aware that what threatened him would still be there. He had become unsure of many things that exact moment, but he had become aware of one:

He should have known better than to step right into his worst nightmare.
