BREAKING NEWS!! NEW SAINT SEIYA SERIES!!
Many many thanks to undertheice, who pointed this out to me, as it came out in Japan today. I had decided to wait for the Next Dimension books to come out, instead of buying the magazine, since there are just a few pages from time to time and all.
But this might very well make me change my mind! *___*
Okay, so we all knew that there was a new Saint Seiya series, written and drawn by Masami Kurumada, and called "Saint Seiya - The Hades Myth - Next Dimension".
What we didn't know until now (because I didn't buy the magazine and thus failed to notice the ad, sorry. ;_;), is that there is ALSO another new series! *_________*
It's called "Saint Seiya - The Hades Myth - The Lost Canvas", and it's written by Kurumada and drawn by young (but already acclaimed for a previous series) mangaka: Shiori Teshirogi!
This new series has much longer episodes than Next Dimension. In fact, I suspect that Akita Shoten had decided to publish both in the same magazine to keep the attention of the readers fully focused, since Kurumada only does about 10 pages of Next Dimension per month... (The next chapter comes out in end of september), and this is a weekly magazine. XD
They are calling it a dual release, as both series have the same characters and run on same time, parallel to each other. Both are a prequel, telling the story of the previous Holy War between Athena and Hades, 243 years ago.
There's still too little of it for us to be 100% sure of how each of them will evolve, but it looks like Next Dimension (Kurumada's) will be the one coming out mostly to make the old school fans happy (since he only draws little bits of it, but his fans will buy it even if it's small doses at a time. ;3), and The Lost Canvas (the new one) will be developping more the characters and the plot of the prequel to also seduce the newer generation who might not feel like buying just for Kurumada's monthly few pages.

Edit: To add a link to Shiori Teshirogi's site. She's female (impressive for a Saint Seiya series, no? :D), and has been a Saint Seiya fan since childhood. Sts and other Kurumada series (but she says Sts is her favorite) have influenced her life a lot, and have lead her to become a mangaka. ^_^/ From her profile and blog, she seems really nice! :D
