SO I DECIDED TO MAKE AN INTRODUCTION POST OF THE AWESOME GERMAN BAND WIR SIND HELDEN (WE ARE HEROES), WITH VIDEOS AND PICTURES AND SHINY WORDS!
THE HEROES
(all of them, with the exception of Mark, are using stage names)
JUDITH HOLOFERNES
vocals, guitar, songwriting
Even though the guys are decent singers as well, she is the lead vocalist of the band.
She likes walks in the park, going to cafe's and relaxing at home. That's because she already has enough excitement when she's on tour with the band. Those are her own words, at least. But you really wouldn't guess from the way she usually behaves.
Most of the times she's just all over the place - she can't stop jumping or twitching to music, always moving on stage, making jokes, being funny. She's a very cheerful person, and also sometimes a very weird person. But there's also this very soothing side to her, that is also reflected in a lot of her lyrics.
And don't even get me started on the lyrics she writes. She's probably the best lyricist I've ever seen (heard?). Her lyrics are beautiful and brilliant, and there are a lot of images and references and word plays, that can't really be translated into english.
Judith is married to the band's drummer, Pola, and in 2006 they had a son.
Judith is also afraid of sharks, but strangely enough, keeps dreaming about them all the time. Also, she owns a
pink dress with a shark on it.
She likes Elvis Costello, The Office, and sushi. When she was a teenager, she used to play her guitar and sing on the streets.
MARK TAVASSOL
bass
Mark is the smart one, the educated one. Parallel to joining the band and recording their first album and going on tours, he managed to complete his internship and actually become a real doctor. The others have said, that his medical knowledge has come in handy on tours.
Most of the times, Mark is the quiet and collected one. He's often forced to be the level-headed one in the band. He looks after the other members, and as Judith has put it, if it wasn't for Mark, they'd probably be constantly falling off the stage and getting run over by cars.
In the band he also plays the harmonica, but he can play the violin and the piano as well.
Mark's father is from Iran, and the first ten years of his life, he lived in Teheran.
In the band he's probably closest to the drummer, Pola, since they were already best friends before Mark joined the band and met the rest of them. Mark completed the band.
And also, he's got incredible chemistry with Judith, or so it seems to me, at least. On stage, in photoshoots and during interviews. If I didn't know, I'd say he's the one who's with Judith.
Mark likes Peter Gabriel, reading the newspapers, football and going to the cinema by himself.
JEAN-MICHEL TOURETTE
guitar, keyboard
Jean has got two different sides to him.
On one side, he's got the image of this really cool, yet cuddly bear. He's married, and according to himself, likes to spend his free time lazying around at home with his wife, cooking dinner and drinking wine. And then there's the part of him that goes completely wild on the stage with the guitar. Judith has said that even after all these years, there are still moments during concerts where she goes ...oh my god, what is Jean doing?!
Jean started learning how to play the piano when he was 8.
Mark has said that Jean is the kind of guy who can reverse park a car while talking on the phone and looking at the map of the city at the same time. Like Mark, Jean is mostly the calm one, at least not until being on stage is involved. Also, he's got a laugh that's really addictive.
Jean describes himself as a "shower fanatic", meaning that if he doesn't know where he can wash himself at least once a day, he'll be a completely unbearable person.
Mostly, Jean says he likes healthy food, but too often ends up going down the wrong path, with junk food and opulent dinners. The only kind of physical activity he likes is swimming.
Jean-Michel likes karaoke, South Park and he can't fall asleep when it's completely quiet.
POLA ROY
drums
Pola usually comes off as the guy of few words, who's a little awkward around other people. That's usually just the first impression, though. He can go from quiet and low key to completely berserk in the blink of an eye. Backstage footage shows him as a guy who likes jokes, and can be loud and obnoxious if he wants to be. Like Jean, he really has two different sides.
Pola seems to be a spiritual person, he likes to meditate and "read books that inspire him". Also, he seems to be really conscious of his body and what he's eating. When he was younger, he used to do fencing. And he tries to go to the fitness studio at least once a week.
He says that meeting Judith was basically love at first sight.
Like Judith, he strangely often dreams about sharks.
As a kid, he wanted to learn the bagpipe more than anything, but his father persuaded him to learn the drums instead.
Pola likes The Office, his PlayStation and action movies.
