LJ JUST ATE MY ENTIRE LONG RANTY ENTRY. I HATE YOU LJ SOMETIMES, I REALLY DO.
Okay, here goes again.
The ending of Kamen Rider Ryuki bothers me. I mean, first thing EVERYBODY DIES. And more specifically REN AND SHINJI DIE. I mean, really what the fuckery. Shinji dies in Ren's arms and Ren dies later in the hospital and it's dramatic and heartbreaking and it hurts.
BUT THEN THEY TURN BACK TIME OKAY.
And suddenly we have this world where Shinji and Ren never met and never became best friends. Well and Yui never lived long enough to reach adulthood, but let us ignore that for a moment.
The horrible thing is, I don't even know if I prefer them both being alive, but having no idea who the other is over them both dying, but having been best friends, who changed each other for the better.
Well, in principle I obviously prefer them both alive, obviously. But that last scene, where they bump into each other in front of the cafe and look at each other and then continue with their business just breaks me. Because I just can't imagine a world where those two aren't friends. And this is exactly why I need fic of those two meeting again in the new timeline. Because Ren is still an asshole and Shinji is still a clumsy airhead and and.. it was also a somewhat hopeful ending, because after taking a couple of steps, they both looked back, regarding each other. As if they knew, that that other person was supposed to be someone important to them.
