I know that Heinlein wasn't a Fascist (This is to a previous comment made in my journal), he is often interpreted as being such by the ignorant though... which was more what the comment was aimed at...
I am trying to get packed to go back to TX, and as usual, I am having a hell of a time getting packed, and (this time) making the place Kitty-Proof, as two of them will be staying in here while I am gone. The other four confined to the outside, I am sorry to say, as they get crazy if they have to stay inside for to long... The other two only go out occasionally, and I am hoping will not have a problem with the two weeks that I will be gone.
I have most of the stuff done already... I have the bed-side table cleared-off so that they can "perch" menacingly upon it... I have most of my books and miniatures packaged up (but not yet stored in their final places, which will be in a lower place than the top bunk, where the kitties WILL find a way to knock them off if I leave them there, and they will also get a covering of the water (Kitty-pee) resistant mattress-cover as well.
Then, all I need to do is go get keys made for the place, and write up "Kitty-care" instructions for those who are less informed on such issues, and then make sure that I have calculated the cat-food situation acurately (I have 27Lbs of Dry food, and 30 cans of wet-food for the "indoor" kitties (Three of them, One won't eat it for some reason, as there are really four indoor kitties) at 1/2 a can a day over 14 to 16 days, that is 1.5 cans a day, which comes to 21 to 24 cans... 9 to 6 cans "just in case"... And, I have 27 lbs of kitty litter... Maybe I should get a little bit more Kitty-Litter? The Inside kitties will probably go through less than the Outside kitties, but they will also be getting their litter changed more often (twice/day as opposed to every other day for the outside kitties).
I know that I will be able to get out of here sometime tomorrow... The question is:
When?
My first opportunity is at 5pm, and the next would be at midnight. I would rather make the 5pm flight, but either way... I think I will survive.
I just want the kitties to be OK. and I want them to find homes.
I have been given an "Ultimatum" of one month after my return to find them homes. I am making some new flyers (one for each kitty this time) to post in the various shops around here, and at school... and, I am trying to get ahold of the contact at the SPCA so that if they have to go that route, they will be OK.
It is just so sad, because they are all finally at ease with me, and they are such cuddly little kitties. Some of them are very needy though, and very demanding of attention.
They are ALL very much "Lap-Cats", they love to crowd onto my lap and snuggle purring with each other... There have been times when they have done that and I didn't want to disturb them so I would wind up falling asleep sitting up... Not exactly the best decision at times and not putting my priorities in order you might say, but it is really hard to disturb such a nest of cuteness...
My next flyers are going to be much more descriptive of each kitty's qualities. The Tabby-Twinkidies are very needy, and probably the most cuddly. The scaredy-cats like to be held like babies, etc... (Those would be all four...) Each would have particular qualities as well, such as one of the Tabby-Twinkidies and one of the Scaredy-Cats seem to like to sleep with your hand attached to their head, the smallest Tabby-Twinkidie is probably the most cuddly of all of the kitties, and the sweetest. They all like fluff balls, and string... They each have their own little fluff ball that they carry around with them, mostly early in the morning when I am most likely to be trying to sleep, and then throw it around so that they can chase and catch it (My own kitty: Chunk-kidie can snatch one out of the air like a dog catching a frisbie)...
I guess that I had better get back to work. At least I don't have to worry about doing laundry... I figure: why pay $12 to $15 to do it across the street, when I can do it in TX for free, and I have some clean clothes to wear on the plane (They are being ferociously guarded against any kitty-pee, as they have taken to peeing on some of my stuff... I can't figure out what it is about this particular stuff that makes them want to pee on it... But it is only three pair of jeans and all of my socks... Of course, anything that happens to be under those Items will get it as well...)... Anyway.. Packing, work...
