I have, in the recent past, posted a short bit about Toxic Memes in Third World societies.
The basic thread of the post was how many ideas and facts of life in the west are equivalent to the diseases that helped to wipe out the Native Americans in the 16th to 19th centuries. Things that we take for granted: Freedom of speech, art, music and evocative works (not necessarily, but including pornography) are things that these societies do not know how to deal with. Bluntly, they do not have the mental capacities developed to know how to either understand or deal with the existence of these things in their societies.
Now, that may sound like a "Bad" thing, and it is. For a while, I had a small amount of pity (and even sympathy) for these cultures. Then, I began to examine them...
Islam is at the top of the list, as it is the most dangerous of these societies.
The more I look into Islam, the more that it disgusts me; even more than Christianity. Both are built upon the same structures. Both are levantine creations from a warped politicization of the polytheistic religions of Mesopotamia. Both sought to control and suppress many human traits that are seen as "works of the devil", both blame women as being easily swayed by that same devil, and attempt to relieve men of their responsibilities by placing the blame on women for all sorts of male shortcomings. Particularly, man's sexual appetites.
I have for a long time suppressed a memory from my early days in College. I was friends with an Iranian girl who had adopted many western trends and fashions. I found out that she was lured back to Iran by a relative who had discovered her rejection of Islamic Sharia where she was killed by the same relative (an uncle I believe). She had no desire to go to Iran after the fall of the Shah (This was in the early 80s), and it was only extravegant gifts and promises that caused her to desire to go "visit" her relatives who were still in Iran. Her brother reluctantly told me that she had been killed. Apparently, even he was in on the whole thing, and knew that his uncle was only buying her gifts and promising to help her with school, but her a house in the states, and so on, in order to get her back to Iran where he could kill her for her "crimes against God" (She was sexually active, did not wear the hajib, wore "provacative" clothing (jeans and T-shirts were the worst offense I was led to believe), and otherwise "tempted" men)...
I know that not all Muslims are like this. But, from having begun to read the Quoran.. It is a sick book (much like the Old Testament or Peter's part of the Bible), and those cultures who base their laws upon it should be doomed, and all of those who do not have a "Mental" defense against western memes.
I relaized that it is much the same as a population needing to develope a healthy immune system. Those who cannot survive these modern memes are a burden to the progression of humanity and are a burden upon the mental and emotional immune systems of humanity as well...
I tend to be pretty tolerant of the need for a spiritual center to society, but basing that center upon an archaic, fundamentalist, or fanatic belief system is not going to do anyone any good.
All that it will accomplish is to further the environment of fear that is currently so pervasive in our world...
I fear for my sister as well. She has married a Muslim, and they have a daughter. Her husband is not exactly very mature in western terms. He keeps threatening to leave my sister and take their daughter back to Iran. I used to think that this was particular to him... That it was an exception, but lately, I have encountered this same behavior recorded among many western women who marry muslim men. It makes me sick, and very sad for my sister.
