I have made a sort of amateur study of dreams...saintjudasJuly 17 2007, 23:09:40 UTC
Since I was very young, I have always had dreams that were visually stunning... I have always wondered where that imagery came from.
Sometimes, I think that dreams are connections to alternate dimensions. This is what Primitive man thought, and is the source of most of the occult that exists...
I have discovered that things that most occult teachings work better in dreams than they do in real life (I spent a great deal of time earlier in my life learning various occult teachings as well). I no longer proactive them in "real life", but have discovered that among many of my dream worlds... These occult teachings are the stuff that dreams are made of...
It is not like what they call "Lucid Dreaming", as I have discovered that any consicous knowledge of the fact that you are dreaming actually destroys the dream eventually (This is backed up by a lot of dream research where it has been shown that conscious though imbalances the neural signals (Brainwaves) that create a REM/Dream state)... I do not try to "take control" of the dream, but rather to lose my fear to act in ANY way... I have been "killed" as a result in many of these dream worlds, where I tried to take on something where I could not completely shed my fear of that thing.
That said, even in those cases where I am afraid of something in a dream... I cannot say that they fall into the "nightmare" category... It is a fear that I can cope with, one that I am willing to confront, even if I cannot move past it.
I think that this has given my sub-conscious more permission to delve deeper than it normally would...
I will see if I can dig up the strangest and most colorful (even though it was sort of like The Wizard of Ox ,and was partially in black and white) In the real world, I was alseep for all of about 20 minutes.. But in the dream, I lived out several months of life... I know that it is way back in my LJ somewhere... I also have the rough drafts somewhere... It is not yet fully complete either (the written part). As soon as I find it, I will send it to you to read...
lately though, my dreams have been distopic and labyrithine... This is because I have been uprooted from any stability in my life.. Not suprising at all... Every now and then though, I am rewarded with another trip to Oz, so to speak, into a world that makes movies like Pan's Labyrinth, or The Fountain look positively boring in comparison.
