Yes we can!

70 degrees in November. Tough to imagine sometimes, but a welcome thing, kind of like the words "President-Elect Barack Obama". It's a good week!

Well, not entirely. The Dow's pulled back over 900 points since the election results, and I heard one of our reps today calling it the "Obama Market Correction", and one other rep cite Obama's mention of Wall Street in his acceptance speech as impetus for the downturn. I don't buy it. This is the natural pullback after a few positive days in a row, as the market zig-zags its way towards finding a bottom. Everything's reactionary, and bad news just piles on more bad news. Unemployment numbers are going to suck, the retail season is going to suck, and earnings in January are going to suck hard. We're stuck here probably until late next year, but it would be nice if we weren't seeing constant 400-point swings in either direction.

Rahm Emanuel's going to be Chief of Staff. He's got Illinois connections, knows how to fundraise and mobilize, and has a reputation as a pitbull who gets things done. Exactly the kind of thing you want as the POTUS's right-hand man. I like the pick.

As a public service, and because she said even before the election that she was retiring the shtick, Television Without Pity (thanks to the miracle of Hulu) has collected all of Tina Fey's Sarah Palin sketches from SNL.
