Happy New Year.

New Year's resolutions are for chumps. Needless to say, I've come up with a list of them. Still, at least I have the sense to know that I'll have forgotten all about them long before February.

The first one is the same resolution I've been making for the past three years: Drink more alcohol. This year, I'm adding to it, though, because in past years, I've been hesitant following through on this because of the obvious danger of alcoholism. This, I have since realized, is dumb. It is highly unlikely that I will become an alcoholic, and if I do, I'll just make suitable resultions about drinking in moderation and stuff next year.

Resolution #1: Drink more alcohol; overcome fear of alcoholism.

I've also spent the last few weeks months feeling guilty about how badly I treat my friends. I have a reputation as "The Guy Who Never Calls Back And Is Always Late And Sometimes Flakes On Plans," and yet I still have an amazing group of friends who are willing to put up with me. That's pretty sweet, but it's not fair, so I'm going to work harder to keep in touch, and treat everyone (the people I like, that is) with more respect.

Resolution #2: Call people back. Sometimes call them just because.

Speaking of guilt, I've been neglecting my journal for a long time now. Unbeknownst to you, I've been updating private entries to help me keep track of things, but that doesn't count, because of the "unbeknownst to you" part. I can also see my writing getting worser, so I think it's time to climb back on top of the ol' writing desk... or some other metaphor that actually makes sense.

Resolution #3: Yeah, see this journal? Write stuff in it. Duh.

There are other things I should resolve to do, but I don't have much time. I have a lot of people to call now, and then I'll write about how things have changed. Both while drunk.
