Home again

I did it. I graduated Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training and am now a soldier in the United States Army. Of course, it hasn't even begun yet. The real Army life begins when I report to Fort Hood on May 31. From what they say, it's going to be all field problems and 25 mile marches with 70 pound rucksacks. I really hope not. Chances are that I'm going to be assigned to 1st Cavalry Division, a mechanized unit, and will be on the crew of a B-FIST, Bradley Fire Support Team. If that happens, then I hopefully won't have to road march much anymore. Anything can happen though.

I'm really worried about Tsunami. His relationship is really unhealthy. I haven't seen it this bad before, so I don't know if he'd really go through with hurting himself over it, but that's how he's acting. I wanna help him, and so do the other people he's talked to about it, but he's not listening to their advice, so he damn sure wouldn't listen to anything I'd have to say, since I've been gone for 4 months. He needs help and I don't know what to do.

So, I got in yesterday. I hung out with Tsunami, got to watch as he destroyed himself a little, woke up this morning, went over, and watched it happen again. I'm afraid that if I'd stayed, I'd have only made things worse, so I left. I assured him that I won't stand around and pick him up just to give him further to fall each day, but I want to help and if he wants to talk it through that he could call me. It's all I can think to do. That's pretty much all I've done so far since I've been back. I'm really interested in doing something different, like seeing a movie, but everybody's in Austin. I considered buying an Xbox 360, but there aren't any games for it I was really excited about playing, so I didn't.

I reported to the recruiting station in the Mall to take part in the Hometown Recruiting Assitance Program (HRAP). It's what gives me two extra weeks off. My orders said I was to report for duty starting today, May 7, but when I got there I found out they're closed Sundays. I called one of the sergeants whose phone number was posted and he said to just come in tomorrow at 10am. Sounds like they're pretty informal about the whole thing then.

Dinnertime. Home cooking.
