i got to hang out with laura mail today!! and it made me happy. we went to lunch at panera, then ice cream at marble slab, then tea at the mail house. it was super cute. we just talked for 3 1/2 hours, which was absolutely wonderful. i love amazing friends and good times and gossip and such. awww.
then i went to the polar express with my family (cept for leslie, of course). could potentially be a cute movie, but the extra drama they added that wasn't in the book raised the cheese factor to rather unbearable levels. a hobo?! what the heck. my family glared at me when i started singing along to the over-dramatic song during the credits. whatever, i thought it was funny. then i had a hott date w/mom and dad.
i'm really worried about leslie. she's my sister, a really awesome person, and has so much potential, but i feel like she's in a downward spiral. she's really cruel to anyone she doesn't like--especially mom and dad. she's more pleasant when she's with her friends, only because she doesn't go around the house yelling and complaining because we don't have enough money or she doesn't have enough stuff, or mom and dad don't let her do anything, or whatever her topic of the day is. she values things and appearances over all else, which is quite alarming. her friends are not nice to her, and she's not nice to her friends. i've been praying for her like mad for about the last year, but it's only gotten worse. i just don't know what else to do. i love her so dearly, and i try to be nice to her and spend time with her, but i feel like all my efforts are wasted. it seems like mom and dad have given up on her. they just hope it's a stage that will pass. good lord, she's been in this stage for quite some time, and it's not getting any better--much MUCH worse, in fact. mom's tried to explain to me that people can be different than i am, and like different things than i do, and still turn out to be decent people, but i don't feel any better. it's beyond having different values than i do, or a different group of friends. it's a lack of moral values that's growing steadily worse. and i'm not even around during the year to be here for her. i need to have a little chat with whoever or whatever told my 14 year old sister that she has to look like she's going out to her corner to sell her body whenever she goes out with her friends. maybe i'm overreacting or overprotective, but i've only got one little sister, and i'm rather fond of her. i'd like to keep her, please.
