this weekend has been really nice so far. kerry-oke was super cute on thursday night. it was on the deck of a cute little college-town taco place. and there were singers and several speakers (who i thought were really good) and then some kerry-oke. they did mostly country, which i don't know very well YET, so i didn't sing, but my friend Daphne did. Friday was blah until the evening, when we went to laser tag. I'd never been before, and from what I heard, the place was a little different from "standard laser tag" (whatevah that is), but i had a really good time. saturday i didn't wake up till 1, which was AWESOME, then brunch, then some nothing. the tau beta sigma tea was last night, and that was fun/cute/interesting. I think i'm gonna try to do it. then nick and i watched a weird poker movie w/matt damon and what's-his-face the fight club guy. i don't remember what it was called. and we ate easy mac and milk and cookies at 11pm.
this morning was the YEA of the weekend. first of all, it's the nicest weather it's been since about wednesday, so that makes me happy. a little cooler (78 currently) and clearer blue skies. got up around 8 which is super super early and went w/a hallmate to church! it was about 25 minutes away, and we got a ride from a senior and a law student. oh my goodness, it was really exciting. it's a new-ish church, so they don't have a building yet....so it's in a movie theater! (theater #12) it's very contemporary and cool and junk. weird and the exact opposite of my church at home, but i really liked it. there was lots of guitar/keyboard/bongos type contemporary Christian music, and a very passionate sermon. so yeah, that was pretty cool. so even though i didn't get enough sleep, i'm in a really good mood. after brunch i'm going to take my reading outside and try to nap on the lawn out in the sunshine.
this coming weekend my family is visiting again. nick and i went bookstore shopping yesterday and spent a whole lot of money on unnecessary presents. it was good times.
*ahem*
YEA!
only one bad thing: Jeanne. it's already killed 1500 people in Haiti, which has a lot of problems anyway. and it hit the florida coast late last night. my aunt/uncle and cousins are staying inland w/some other family, but their homes are probably going to get at least some minor damage. and they've got some money. i can't even imagine how these hurricanes are effecting the lives of the less wealthy. the city of nashville has a blood shortage right now because so much has had to be sent to Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Louisiana already. don't you just hate reality checks?
