On the Importance of Filler

Feb 26, 2011 21:17

Or, why I spent twenty minutes trying to decide if Arthur and Eames should take a bus or a taxi.

So I've got five thousand words of chapter five of Hero down and it looks like the rest will be smooth sailing. At any rate, I'm taking a break from that to write this (which is funny, because me writing Hero was just me taking a break from betaing, ( Read more... )

Ohhh, how interesting.
I wasn't really sure if I agree (I think there's usually not much action in my fics), but then I read the bit about filler-only stories, and, yes. Yes.
I guess I often write something like filler-only stories with some action packed between.

And, gee, do I know the Inception of procrastination. A procrastination from a procrastination from a procrastination ...

Thanks <3. Speaking of stories you write, I really need to go stalk your lj and see if you've posted anything new. Got anything stewing in that brain of yours?

It's not our fault there's so many shiny and exciting things in the world, right? Right.

God, I'm so easily distracted, especially when I should be learning. Like now :D

Hee, thanks.
I've written kid!fic that you've might not seen yet. It's a bit different from the rest, so I don't know.

I've still got a few Inception fics that I want to finish or at least tidy up and post as snippets, but I don't really know yet.
I seem to have wandered off into the Primeval fandom (did I mention I'm easily distracted?) :D

Pfft. The best education doesn't come from the classroom, it comes from the rest of the world. Or, at least, that's what I keep telling myself.

You wrote kid!fic! Yay! I have to admit, I'm such a sucker for kid!fic. I'm going to have to check it out, because despite what you say, I'm sure it's wonderful.

Gawd, I know, I have the first page of about. . . seven, I think it is, Inception fics written that refuse to morph themselves into actual proper fic. Not to mention, a certain pharmacy!Au that I really need to finish. . . *headdesk* One at a time, one at a time.

BBC America keeps showing me adverts for Primeval, and it apparently has That One Hot Guy I Like in it, so I've been meaning it check it out. I do have something of a minor dinosaur obsession, so I don't see how I could not love it.

Oohhh, so you're actually writing the pharmacy!AU? Yaaaaay!!!
Yeah, one at a time. Both of us, we'll get everything finished and posted. Some day. Gotta believe.

Primeval is SO COOL. I mean, the show is totally cracky and has this huge plot holes all over it, and people die all the time, but you still gotta love it. And it does have a lot of dinosaurs. And the fandom is incredibly nice.
So who is this One Hot Guy that you like?

Yes! I am writing it. It will be the next thing I post once I finally finish Hero Today. Which, with any luck, will be soon. The pharmacy!Au keeps trying to twist itself into something wangsty, but I will bring the fluff. It's just, ah, you might have noticed, taking forever.

Actually, that gives me an idea. . . since Arthur is insisting on being a dark and tortured soul whenever I attempt to write him, I should switch over to Eames's pov. . . I have yet to write a fic from his perspective, after all. . . hmmm. . . Sweet, I may actually get some writing on that done today.

Anyways, yes, I will have to check out Primeval, it sounds delicious. One Hot Guy is. . . lemme imdb him. . . Andrew Lee Potts! He played Hatter in SyFy's charmingly ridiculous Alice miniseries, and wore eyeliner, and was just generally awesome.

So excited! I don't mind angst. And I don't mind waiting. I'm completely convinced it'll be all kinds of perfect once it's done.

Ohhh, Andrew Lee Potts plays the most adorable geek ever. You'll love him. He's basically my favourite character in Primeval. I haven't seen Alice yet, but it's definitely on my list of things-to-watch-because-they-have-adorable-actors.
So, yeah, check it out. I'll be posting fic soon too :D

Oh, boy. I will do my best. :D

I have to recommend Alice. It's ridiculous and cheesy and bizarre and occasionally ill-thought-out and the special effects are often laughable and Alice herself is insufferable, but it is also wonderful. A lot of that is due to Andrew Lee Potts -- he is fantastically charming and roguish in that movie, and for the whump fan inside all of us, the producers love beating the crap out of him. And, it's also just a fun movie for Alice in Wonderland fans -- tryiing to spot all the different ways they slipped in the familiar characters and places and plots and whatnot. It's a fairly engaging and unique take on the story, and just plain fun to watch.

Yay! Fic!
